Should be getting some brand new RMA replacment Crucial 1GB (2x512MB) DDR PC4000 Ballistix Dual Channel Kit off a mate whos swapping them with my OCZ (see sig).

Just wandering what people have had these too, timings etc and any tips? I'd be more intrested to hear from Intel boys as to AMD as thats what there going in. Basicly the way AMD works is totaly differnt to Intel on ram...belive

Let me know

Erm, just a word of advice, test the Ballistix set before you confirm a swap, they all seem to be faulty now.

I think the 1gb kits are ok. It was mainly the 2gb kits that presented problems I think. Your ocz rev2 is TCCD right? If I were you, I'd keep it.
btw I think the ballistix can hit 300mhz, unsure at what timings and voltage though.

Nooooooooooooo.

I'd like to take the heat spreaders off and find out exactly what they are...they are there so bloody tight. Got any ideas and tips on how to get them off to find out what my ram really really really is?

I wan't some Intel happy ram

I rant it enough and i think the tidy oc in my sig says it all mate

So you now agree to dump the ocz plats and get the ballistix

Do not swap. The Ballistix (PC4000/DDR500?) IIRC are rated at 2.5-4-4-8 1T @ 250mhz. Your current RAM does tighter timings than this and I'm pretty sure there isn't much left in the IC's on the Ballistix. It depends on what FSB you need - TCCD would probably be your best bet if you really want to change but there is no point since you have TCC5 already.

the ballistix are rated 3 4 4 10 2T @ 250 at least thats on the 2gb modules i have. i really regret getting the 2gb ballistix kit its complete rubbish and actually it wont even do stock anymore. have to run mine at 200 now and it still gives errors in memtest

So what should i do??

i have no idea what my OCZ are, they could be TCCD or TCC% no one know a sthere is mixted batched out ever marked up v1.1 etc etc

The 1GB kit is different though - I just checked and confirmed my above post. Unlucky with the 2GB kits - they were half decent until all of them decided to die.

Whether it is TCCD or TCC5, it is better than the Ballistix.

Gay..............wish i never bought this crap now

Pc's are now starting to get on my ****. Just had one of pumps go bang on me, was cool seeing the sparks and water light up blue hehehehe

lol drazic . i feel the same now after years of tweaking and dealing with huge messes i'd make for myself trying to push the pc further for like an extra 5 fps in some stupid random computer game. now i just want a pc that works properly and doesnt explode when i try and do somthing. i need a hug :o

My feet are near it as it's outta the case on some boxs. Tempation to walk on it and buy a normal every day pc is so there right now or to go test what it looks like being huretled fro my St24 @ 154mph (stops there, bloody restircted)

Still what to do about ram

I think the 1Gb kits are very good, the problems seem to be with 2Gb like my 1st set. Having said that, My RMA set have been working fine at 250 3,3,3,5,1T for months and can do more but the difference is not really noticable so I don't bother.

would 250-270 be better than your current OCZ sticks?
