Hello I'm just about to have a crucial m4 installed on my comp will the performance of my drive be hindered by the x58 mob ie Marvell controller that exists or will i not notice any real time difference im upgrading from a vertex 2e 60 gb .I was also thinking of installing a wd velicoraptor 600gb as a os drive but was adviced not too .any advice tips welcome. Ie set up using Sata 3 or Sata 2 also do the crucial drives come Sata cables ?

vertex works well.
and yes, you wont notice much if any real time difference due to limited chipset for ssd.
to use a M4 at the ebst capacity the new sata 3 with 6gb transports are needed.

ok ive just gone ahead and purchased the crucial drive im going to have it installed on the sata 2 controller perhaps at a later date might upgrade me x58 to something that supports sata 3 better than the marvell controller which i hear does not support trim on the x58 mob,the reason to upgrade ssd was capacity rather than speed as the vertex 60gb seemed plenty quick just a bit small for running windows 7 64 comfortably , i hope that i still reach good speeds with the crucial drive in sata 2 ? also wondering why the trim not supported with the marvell controller i always assumed that windows 7 enabled the trim facility ,although not totally assure how relavent trim is in the ssd use ? if some one could explain much appreciated ,
