Just ordered one of these for extra capacity on my boot drive. Currently got a Corsair Force MP510 1.92TB from 2019 and just want the extra space. Its a PCI-e 4 drive and my motherboard only supports PCI-e 3 anyway but it was £7 more expensive than the PCI-e 3 non plus so went with the Plus version.

Also looked at Corsair MP600 CORE XT but I'm led to believe the Crucial is better.

In Newmaxx's spreadsheet the components are identical (Phison E21T and Micron 176-layer QLC), but Corsair give their drive slightly higher TBW ratings.

THG seem to agree in their review:

"The Corsair MP600 XT is a Crucial P3 Plus in disguise, or in other words, a mid-range PCIe 4.0 SSD built around QLC to give the most capacity for the price. The MP600 XT's performance is unexceptional but good enough, particularly if you use it as a secondary storage drive for bulk data storage or as a drive for your game library. It can simply outpace older controllers and older QLC and is even an attractive alternative to many PCIe 3.0 options.

Unfortunately, the MP600 XT's list price at the time of review is too high, but the expectation is that this will come down quickly after launch. QLC flash is still generally disliked by storage aficionados, but it is making inroads, and the best place for it is inside high-capacity drives.

SSD prices have been dropping, and in particular, the P3 and P3 Plus have made it easy to get 2TB or 4TB of relatively fast storage. More competition in this space is welcome. There’s still some needle-threading required between HDDs and higher-end SSDs, but the value is pulling away from SATA SSDs — if you have the M.2 slots."

Yeah the speed of my current drive is fast enough and this drive should be similar. I’m currently using 507GB of my current 1.92TB but I wanted to buy something on Black Friday. Don’t need the latest and absolutely fastest and my motherboard wouldn’t support it anyway.

Is there any difference between the P3 plus and P5 plus aside from its speed? Just bought a 2TB P5 plus for abit of a deal on BF sale to upgrade an aging but still reliable P2 drive.

Edit: nvm just found the spreadsheet you linked on reddit, seems its classed as a high end using TLC instead of QLC with DRAM, sounds pretty good! Was tempted by the T500 but its still a little expensive for me.

I went for P3 Plus because I wanted 4TB and my motherboard nvme slot is only PCI-e gen 3. I probably won’t see the benefit of the P3 Plus which is PCI-e gen 4. No point buying a faster drive for a future motherboard the market will have changed by then.

Yup, it (p5p) is a high-end PCI-E 4.0 drive like the SN850X or 980 pro :)

Received my P3 Plus 4TB today and benchmarked it vs my old Corsair MP510 1.92TB.

My motherboard definitely the limiting factor and is the reason why I didn't go for a faster drive.

I am thinking of pulling the trigger on one of those 4tb p3 plus drives , I have got a 2tb p5 plus for windows and music production, a 2tb firecuda 530 for games, thinking about getting the P3 for storage and going full ssd in this build

Yeah I only have NVme SSD in my machine no SATA drives anymore.

Looks like I got a genuine Black Friday deal as it’s now £273.99 where I bought it, I paid £163.99. Most other places out of stock or around the same price but ocUK have them for £219.95.
