Hi All,
I've just purchased a Crucial P3 Plus SSD 4TB M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen4 Internal SSD and a UGREEN M.2 NVME and SATA SSD Enclosure.
Running a test with CrystalDiskMark, the read and write speeds are pretty slow:

[Read]
SEQ 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 457.495 MB/s [ 436.3 IOPS] < 18282.75 us>
SEQ 128KiB (Q= 32, T= 1): 426.023 MB/s [ 3250.3 IOPS] < 9827.41 us>
RND 4KiB (Q= 32, T=16): 153.958 MB/s [ 37587.4 IOPS] < 13492.55 us>
RND 4KiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 22.136 MB/s [ 5404.3 IOPS] < 184.36 us>

[Write]
SEQ 1MiB (Q= 8, T= 1): 445.356 MB/s [ 424.7 IOPS] < 18748.47 us>

RND 4KiB (Q= 32, T=16): 113.251 MB/s [ 27649.2 IOPS] < 18446.89 us>
RND 4KiB (Q= 1, T= 1): 38.744 MB/s [ 9459.0 IOPS] < 105.33 us>

Profile: Default
Test: 1 GiB (x5) [H: 5% (177/3726GiB)]
Mode: [Admin]
Time: Measure 5 sec / Interval 5 sec
Date: 2024/10/10 18:08:47
OS: Windows 11 Pro 24H2 [10.0 Build 26100] (x64)

The enclosure is connected to a Dell XPS 13 9370 laptop with a USB C to USC C cable. The USB ports on the laptop should be able to handle data transfer rates up to 10 Gbps for USB 3.1 Gen 2 and up to 40 Gbps for Thunderbolt 3.

Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

Thanks,
Ben

Hi,
thanks for the reply. There are 3 ports in the laptop. One is connected to an HDMI adapter outputting to two monitors, one is just being used for power and the last one is connected to a USB hub.
I'll test without anything else connected, but I'm getting roughly a tenth in speed of what I've seen in reviews for this SSD.

Looks like it was the USB cable that I was using was the problem.

Much better speeds with the cable that came with the enclosure:
