After a bit of advice if anyone can help. just ordered up a Crucial M225:D. Am I right in thinking that these support trim and will it automatically work out the box on Windows 7 or will I need to flash or something. Any help or advice would be very gratefully received.

Great thanks for that. I had a feeling it did support trim somehow:D lets hope I notice some difference from my 300gb VelociRaptor :D

Oh any chance you can screw the drive up flashing it?

The only problem I had is that at first the update wouldn't find the drive. This was fixed by changing the driver from AHCI to IDE in the BIOS. I think you get the best results running in AHCI though so remember to change it back.

After that everything was fine. If you've been using the drive before updating you probably want to run the Crucial Wiper tool after updating to make sure it gets all the missing Trim instructions.

at the first boot-up screen...where the connected IDE devices are named. the firmware version is displayed next to the crucial drive details....
eg, "CrucialCT64 1819"...

hopefully that sounds clearer than it reads

yip all done have flashed it now cheers m8. Sorry to keep asking questions but I was going to use the Crucial Wiper tool but it says next to it only supported by xp and vista. I'm running w7 64 so does that mean I really shouldnt try it and use it?.

Pretty sure with the new firmware and w7 thats it's done automatically, just upgraded from 1819 to 1916 and it has increased my performance by a lot.

1819 read write
Seq 119 36
4k 15 4
4k-64 27 4
acc 0.246 0.997
score 55 13
overall 99

1916 read write
seq 166 97
4k 19 5
4k-64 28 4
acc 0.191 0.749
score 64 20
overall 122
