cruise control not working after work in garage

I feel their pain.

The ST220 is a fairly old car now and newer diagnostic tools will probably not be able to access it properly. (If at all)
It's new enough to use the EOBD standard.

For a garage to simply blindly plug in the diagnostics and then say "computer says no, sorry m8" without actually poking their head under the bonnet for 5 minutes and doing some simple physical diagnostic checks is poor show.

They would only be able access the on board systems to if they had been trading for over 20 years and had retained their older diagnostic tools.

Something that doesn't happen that much because many diagnostic tool sellers encourage people to trade in their older tools for a discount. :/
What complete nonsense. Chances are they have a pretty basic code reader that will communicate with ECU to read/clear fault codes but it won't talk to some individual control units. Cruise control can be affected by many different things. I'd suggest taking it somewhere who can diagnose the fault properly. If it turns out to be something that garage A could have messed up, then fight your case for reimbursement.

Ianh, ledge thanks. It is just flapping. Also thanks Howard.

I assumed they had done some physical checks but obviously not. Yes, poor show. I'm going in tomorrow and see what they say.

This has not been a good show by them: Car booked in on a Tues for oil leak fix. I phone them back at ~4pm cos not heard from them, and they say work is just starting. Then 30 mins later they phone back and say it wont be finished by the end of the day, and I won't be able to have the car back until sometime the following day. Then all this rubbish with cruise control.
