Hi,
Am looking for a reasonably priced mobile (i.e, they come to you) cruise control fitter for my 57 plate Ibiza FR. Has anyone done this to their car using such a service? Budget is probably 4-500 quid max.

TIA!

VAG cars are normally quite easy to change. Kufatec have all the parts needed to do it for €88 + shipping etc. You'll need to find someone with a VAG-COM cable who knows the correct programming numbers. You have to remove the air bag and steering wheel to do it.

Have a look on a VAG or Seat forum, theres normally someone in your area that is prepared to help you for some beer token, easily doable on VAG cars by all accounts.

Clicky These guys are who I'll be using when I get the cash together. Supposed to be pretty good and you'll get change from £200. I'm pretty sure it's OK to post the link, but just in case, Mods please delete if necessary...

I had it retro-fitted to my Golf GTI, they just changed the stalk all for £99 by VW, £76 cheaper than the factory fit option!

£200:eek:

The parts only cost £75 from Kufatec and they'll be making a profit at that compared to what you can get them for from a dealer. They're charging £130 for plugging in a cable and changing the code which literally takes 5 minutes. I'm in the wrong job.

Go on a Seat forum and find someone who has a VAG-COM cable locally and fit it yourself. Adding the stalk in is easy.

Its not exactly that easy, you need to remove the airbag which not everyone wants to do including myself, then you have the easy part of removing the current stalk and changing it over, the hardest part of the job is feeding the new loom into the engine compartment and into the ECU box which you need to add a few wires to some VAG connectors, then you need the full version of vag-com and a proper lead anyways!

Its about 1.5hours worth or time to fit, i paid £179 to get mine retrofitted and to save yourself the trouble of setting the airbag(s) off or messing up your wiring its well worth the extra cost.

It might be different in a Ibiza but given how similar VAG cars are its probably not far off the same process.

I know for a fact that the MK5 Golf GTI with highline comp had all the wiring in place, all they did was change the stalk! No leads needed feeding to the ECU, quite possibly the steering wheel had to come off though.

Depends on the car i suppose, 90% of the 00-05 VAG range needs the wiring installed, can't find any info past this, i can only assume as Seat is on the cheaper end of the VAG range the wiring won't be in place, but this is just a guess.

Certainly isn't in place in mine.

Worst case scenario, there are aftermarket cruise control kits you can get, most car audio+alarm shops will have a leaflet for whichever one they sell.

Sounds a bit like the 3 series, if not fitted you can retrofit - but need the stalk, cruise control ECU, actuator, a few other random bits but that's it.

The rest is just plugging it into the back of the dash (as that's where it gets the speed info from) and setting up the pedal switches, fitment and so on...

I'm pretty sure you can retrofit it.. Might be worth signing up over at seatcupra.net, great forum for us Seat owners! :)

I think VW only charge £150 (all in) to fit it to a Golf, so you may be able to get it done by Seat at a similar price.

Problem is i've called a fair few SEAT dealerships in my area and a bit out and none seem to be able/willing to do it! From what i've read, its more than doable and not a very complicated job.
