Cryengine support Mantle

Don't be silly!!
Boots on the other trunk, it's ok now ;)

Yeah, double standards everywhere. But I keep forgetting that AMD can do no wrong, so we will all be fine...

Forgive my pessimism people, but I'm just a bit tired of all these Mantle threads is all. It was supposed to be exciting stuff, and it was - until it was picked up by the Graphics Card sub-forum and smashed into our faces repeatedly.

It's not really double standards looking at the track records of both companies. If Nvidia had made Mantle do you really think we would be talking about a full release and it being turned over to a third party company. Only one out of the 2 company's is known for these kind of things. Now it would be stupid to trust any company 100% but if you had to put your house up as a bet on which one out of the two would make this Open which would it be.

Any how this is looking more like dx12 will be where it should be due to Mantle pushing it there. I don't think Nvidia fans really need to be so worried about AMD controlling anything yet.

Desperation will make people say weird things. ;)

Great just what we need, a single company trying to gain control of an entire market to make a monopoly. I thought you people didn't like this sort of thing?
Let's be honest we all know that ain't gonna happen. Also Mantle only really make a difference the most if there were CPU bottleneck...you are sounding like more games having the option to cut down CPU overhead is a bad thing.

If anything, the most we could hope for AMD to achieve is to force Nvida to stop charging price premium for the same performance.

What monopoly? Which game engine has declared the end of support for DX and only supporting Mantle? none, oh that's right.

What about features, which DX capable features have been ripped out of BF4/Thief so Nvidia can't run them like Nvidia have been doing in other titles to AMD..... none.

If some new effect is only doable under Mantle and isn't supported under DX< it still isn't removing a feature from nvidia under DX, Nvidia loses nothing.

In what way is AMD users being happy with a better API being well adopted a lead to an AMD monopoly?

http://www.cryengine.com/news/crytek-announces-its-cryengine-as-a-service-program

CRYENGINE gives users access to the same award-winning toolset that was used to create Crytek's Ryse: Son of Rome, and equips them to develop outstanding games across all of today's leading platforms.

As a first tier of its new program, Crytek has revealed that from May this year, indie developers will be able to use all of CRYENGINE's cutting-edge features for a monthly subscription fee of 9,90 USD/EUR per user - royalty free. Those features include the recently announced addition of CRYENGINE features such as Physically Based Shading, Geometry Cache and Image Based Lighting - an upgrade already shown in action by Crytek at this year's GDC conference in San Francisco.

More details about the game-changing opportunities on offer to developers as part of the program will be announced in the near future. The CRYENGINE free SDK will continue to be available under its current terms but developers wanting to take advantage of the new features of CRYENGINE will need to subscribe to the new EaaS-Program.

Crytek's Director of Business Development , Carl Jones, said: "When we announced the new CRYENGINE this was our first step towards creating an engine as a service. We are happy to announce now that the latest update of CRYENGINE will soon be available to all developers on a subscription basis. We are really excited to make CRYENGINE available to hundreds of thousands of developers working with Crytek to make awesome games.”

Now LtMatt can make the worlds first Mantle only game, hit the bricks DX:D

More engines supporting Mantle is always good.
But I'd rather they scrap Crysis now, they've ruined it.

Crysis 1, and Warhead were amazing games, they deserved a proper sequel (Story line etc), Crysis 2 and 3 aren't that.

Looks like amd and mantle is the way forward In Future games then. I cannot see any other way gaming on the PC is going other than a split between mantle and dx titles ( right now ) as not many people with amd cards are going to buy dx games, And not many nvidia users will pay for a mantle game.

That would be mad, with DX12 supporting both NVidia and AMD, if I were an AMD user I would purchase any game that took my fancy regardless of API.
DX12 will be closer to the metal and any AMD owner who only buys Mantle games would be cutting his nose off to spite his face imo.

I use Nvidia at the moment and wouldn't hesitate to buy a game that supports mantle to run on nvidia if I liked it.
