Hi all

Crysis demo crashes when launched under Vista Premium 64bit => CryEngine2 has stopped working

I have downloaded the demo twice from 2 different sites (nvidia and EA), no difference. Tried launching DX9 and DX10 - still does not work

I am using latest nvidia beta driver

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Cheers

I got the same, 64bit version doesn't run with the new drivers (Does with 163.44) runs fine in 32 bit mode on both however. Didn't see any difference in game between the two so have stuck with 32bit

Looks like when Crysis comes out Crytek have some heavy patching to do lets just hope some of the patching will improve frame rate

ok found a way around it. I rolled back driver 163.71, yet not convinced this is necessary.

Thx for hints. However, this demo does not work on my Vista x64. so go to your explorer and go to crysis folder directly => bin 32 folder and right click exe file and launch as admin - then it works. not sure if it is DX 10

I ran it 1600x1080 res everything on very high AA at x4 with decent frame rate (except when driving fast gets a bit choppy). not sure exactly since I do not know the console command

hope this helps others

nvidia and bad x64 drivers, shocking. surprisingly works well enough on my 2900xt. i like my gtx, but, theres little point dropping money on vista 32bit, when in 1-2 years a lot of games will ship with 64 bit support. vista for dx10, when are nvidia gonna just make a stable damn dx10/x64 driver. ati had one available that was fine on the day their cards were available. for 1680x1050 the 2900xt is fine, matches the gts, i'm a bit of a whore though and wanted to go 24" screen and the gtx. but theres just no point if i can't get a stable damn driver, for a year :(

is there different .exe's for the game for 32/64bit. been busy today so only played through quickly once, wanted to check out what looks different(if anything) with dx10 vs 9.

Drunkmaster, you have asked the million dollar question indeed. I would have thought that after close to a year Nvidia would have resolved their issue. Unfortunately this is not likely anytime soon :( In fact I do not even understand their websites SLI Zone, games and SLI certification when it makes no difference
