After reading a page on 'how to solve cryptic puzzles', my head now hurts more then trying to understand the original.

• Essential? Identify extraneous openings
• Entering eventful teams? Double-use only!
• Open envelopes
• Each escaping eyelash exit teases double-united
• Only effacing over united arms

Could anyone possibly come up with a password from these 5 lines? The prize is some beer which I will absolutely not share with you :D

Or could someone please explain, how? without causing my brain to melt...

Yeah! its a cruel time to dangle the prize of beer behind a iron wall of impossible. :D

Apparently a clue is "it's not how it looks, it's how it sounds!"

How is that a clue!

Yep!

Unfortunately not a single person in the company got it right (and bar a few of us in IT the rest of em are Lawyers). So the beer has gone un-drunk until next week :/

So two things we can take from this

1. well done Gilly!

2. Don't commit a crime, because the people who you are going to pay a stupid amount of money too to try and get you off aren't really all that bright either :D

Also sorry for the late reply, I went and purchased my own beer after work to make me feel better :)

Take the opening sound of each word. Could argue that "Identify extraneous openings" was a clue.

Edit: added spoiler incase someone still wanted to try it.
