You have to have been living under a rock for the last six months not to heard at least a little about the latest online craze, cryptocurrencies. Whether it be Bitcoin, Litecoin, Quarkcoin, the list goes on, these online currencies allow your PC to earn you money by "mining" coins.

Cryptocurrencies can be used to buy many things online, and increasingly, in the real world too. From Beer to Supercars, cryptocurrencies are rapidly becoming the future of retail. For those who prefer to deal in traditional currency cryptocoins can be sold and traded to earn dollars & pounds. The value of one Bitcoin, the biggest name in cryptocurrency, varies with market forces but tends to average around the $1000 mark.

Many hardware configurations mine coins so quickly that they can pay for themselves in a very short period of time and we've saved you the research time by pre-configuring the "Titan Crypto Miner" with a selection of such hardware.

I've priced mine up doing a quad-GPU configuration but using budget everything else, much cheaper :o

the base system with three 290 in there overclocked to 290x speeds would cost £1500

if you mine litecoins you would get this back in around 3 months after power costs making the PC effectively free...

food for thought.

I was just going to say when are ocuk going to sell litecoin machines :)

Would it make any difference using a dual core AMD or quad or better to stick to Intel 4770k cpus for mining?

Or is it more about the GPU here....

You should pull out all the stupid stuff we don't need like HDD, Case, Memory (in my case) and allow us to configure it more... Then I'd be interested.

CPU mining is pointless. You use your GPU. You can get away with a £25 Sempron for mining.

You're also effectively gambling that £1500, no one knows how this current boom is going to turn out.

in that case it wouldnt be a full system and you may as well build it yourself.

not everyone who wants to mine crypto currency is a hardware enthusiast.

we are being requested custom quotes on a daily basis for these sort of solutions.

so now we cater for our customers.

Just allow for greater customisation of the components rather than forcing people to have certain bits.

It's less hassle for you guys putting it all together if your customer says they don't want certain bits, and people are more likely to buy because as you said it's convenient to have everything come as one. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who, like me have a few old sticks of RAM and the odd HDD lying around that could be used.

Things like the case and CPU are 'nice to have' but that extra hundred quid or so could be spent on better components that actually make a difference.

If I could just buy the GPU/Mobo/CPU for a fixed price I'd be a happy boy.

Just realised that my student accomodation has all inclusive bills. Shame I don't have the time to put a system like this together, and then put the 290X's in my gaming pc after I move:eek:

thx interesting to know, then I agree with others it is rather tad expensive these are as ocuk suggest more ideal for people that just want to get started.

Us lot could build it cheaper :p

Those cases are not in the slightest suitable for 2 R9 290's, nevermind 3 or 4.

I like the idea, and it's probably an easy way for you to make money right now, but that case selection is poor, neither have sufficient airflow (no real cases do to be honest).

Give you 10% if I can set one up in your room? :p

I do agree it's easier for 'plug and play' but feel a bit more thought should have gone into allowing greater customisation of the components. They may even find that by allowing their customers to pick only the bits they need they sell more, instead having to buy everything will put them off.

  1. mount them on a pizza stone
  2. lay case on it's side
  3. open a pizzeria
  4. profit from coins
  5. pofit from pizzas

you can. on the website.

Preferably a much cheaper CPU though :p

EDIT: I'm still having to pay for things like Memory, SSD, Case and CPU that I just don't need. These systems don't need the CPU you've put in them - all they need is a Sempron that Bolton sells for £25.
