Just my opinion but it seems like a pyramid type scheme where all these people are helping someone else to get rich and the bottom will fall out of it.
 
That is why I said 'like' The ones that got in first will profit the most and those that turn up late will just help those from the start in these mining pools.

Just don't go asking for help in setting it up on this forum. You'll get referred to as a noob (despite every other person who is now doing it being a noob at some point) and the willingness to give you information is very small.

I've asked three or four times now for info or links and just get ignored. I'm stunned at the attitude of people regarding this subject but its down to pure greed I assume.
 
No it is what I find in PC forums quite a lot nowadays, this kind of holier than thou elitism but there are some good people still on here(maybe not this thread specifically) but all in all OCUK has been very good to me over the years.

I've never had a problem getting help in any other thread. When it centres around earning money though... no one is willing to help. For a person who doesn't know buying one of these systems they are wasting their money if they think they'll get help from this forum to set it up!

I've no problem offering advice either, and have given plenty over the years but seldom is that returned now.

What help do you need? mining is pretty straight forward

guminer makes it idiot proof if you don't want to be manually editing a .bat file

asking for help or advice on this forum is sometimes a waste of time.

The reason no one wants to offer help is because every new gpu joining the network makes it harder to mine coins because of increased difficulty. It takes me twice as long to mine a coin now than it did two weeks ago, and I get the same money for it. I help people because it's more the big 100gpu farms that are pumping diff up than new people jumping on the bandwagon (although that certainly has a big effect), but the general culture of disliking noobs is just down to the fact that they are quite literally eating into existing miners' profits.

You've always offered help! Found your advice in the vape area invaluable! I don't want to mine for profit I couldn't care less about that I just wanted to see what speed I could get my 5850's to. They will run 1000 core each so just wanted a value!

You could probably get 390kh/s out of one. I get 380kh/s at 950/1200, but anything higher needs a bit more volts = too warm for my liking (currently 78C). It's not a bad card in terms of yield/£, but it is a bit hungry on electric for what it gives. I just run mine to get my hash up while I can still mine LTC. Trying to hoard while I can! Really you want about 2 boards with 4 7950s in each of them to still be "in the game" and make profit quickly enough to get money back. If you have hardware already, then crack on before diff cuts you out. Either that or start mining altcoins in the hope that one of them takes off like LTC.
 
Seem t recall reading that in the 1800s gold rushes that the people who made the money were the people selling the shovels and other equipment. Looks like OCUK have seen the lessons from history!
