Cryptominers Target AMD Ryzen CPUs for Their Big L3 Caches

This could cause a CPU, motherboard and DRAM hardware shortage, placing even more strain on the consumer PC market.

This should say another shortage. Or that it will worsen the existing one. We've hardly been swimming components with each launch.
From the intel 8th gen to ryzen and the motherboard/RAM situation with intel 12th gen, we've seen back to back shortages of one kind or another.

That's in addition to the GPU situation.

Hate on me if you like but this is a brand new coin, i think, or at least it seems to be right at the beginning of taking off.

It might actually be worth mining these if only for a short while with your existing gaming rig, i remember when you could get a Bitcoin or two in a day mining, they are now worth £35,000 each.

Get some now, even just 100 hours worth of mining, that's all it will cost you, and sit on them for a few years. See if they hatch.

This is why we have so many coins now, just people doing a little mining to rack up 50 different coins in the hope one of them turns into Bitcoin

Interesting, could you mine in parallel with GPU mining i.e. have your Ryzen9 mining Raptoreum alongside a RTX3000 series mining ETH? I've never bothered with mining but if I could max out the CPU and GPU it might be more appealing.

From my brief reading this definitely seems to be the case. I may be interested in this, purely because I have the hardware already.

Yeah, I have my 5900x mining it whilst the 3080 does ethereum. Have them currently mining 24/7 when not gaming.

Interestingly on a stock 5900x, the power draw is much lower than other things that push my CPU to 100% like encoding, CFD and benchmarks.
Anyone tried this yet?
Yeah, it's alright but network difficulty has skyrocketed as lots of people have jumped in.

Love to see it. This thing is dead already.

Once it hits more mainstream sources it’s already over for these type of coins, people will have been mining for months.
