I just finished the crysis demo and i am unsure whether to get it .... it ran pretty much fine ..... but does the action get more demanding later in the game? (im talking computer demanding rather than skill level.)

I have 2gig ram, [email protected], 8800GTS 320meg and i run in 1650x1050 because of my monitor.....

I hear there is a snow section that chokes the fps .....

Yeah the snow section does hit the fps. I found that overclocking my cpu really helped tho and gave me an extra 8 fps average. Even tho it does hit the fps crysis is still playable at 20fps, which is arround what i got in that section :)

hmmm ok i dont really wanna overclock just for a game.... im in south korea and getting the cooling etc. would be a pain ..... is the snow section very long ???

hmm i might get it then ....... ive tried COD4 and it didnt really do anything for me ..... it never has though..... im gonna get the source pack on steam too .... love those games so much
:D

The snow section didn't really lag me like it did to others. I would say it's less than half the length of the jungle missions.

I've completed the game with a C2D 6600, 2GB and 8800GTX.

I found that the game wasn't particularly smooth with everything turned up to 'high' - up to now everything gets put to full graphics since I got the GTX.

Crysis however...well...it was certainly playable on high, but not smooth enough for me...I like to be able to be sprinting through any terrain, jump off a high ledge and be able to headshot someone from a distance with ease....not so at the moment so I've put all the graphics down to 'medium'.

I've found it still looks really good, there are a couple of noticeable bits that don't look as hot as they did but it's more than made up for by how smooth and flowing it is now.

General rule of thumb...if it's chugging, drop the graphics settings a bit, they're not the be all and end all of everything but it can certainly make a difference to the gameplay experience.

You can always just drop the graphics down in the snow section and put it back up again after, it's a really fun game and certainly not one that should be missed because of wondering how one section will run.

i too prefer smooth gameplay to stuttering prettyness .... i ran the demo on med and as mentioned experienced no real problems..... i probably will get it ... it seems to have gotten a really bad rep.... its probably the hype...

It only got a bad rep because a lot of people upgraded just to play this game on max only to find that it wont run smoothly, thus feeling as though they have been cheated out of there money. The game is fantastic and i would recomend that you get it. Plus it is loads of fun online :)

That's funny, I didn't encounter any problems with mine all the way through.

There was a problem in the demo with graphics not drawing properly, but a retail release and upgrade of graphics drivers sorted that out.

There's nothing I like better in any game I've got at the moment than sneaking through the undergrowth invisible with the enemies walking right next to you, popping up behind them and head shotting three before they have any idea what's going on.

That and bombing down a road at full pelt in an armoured car...leaping out and shooting the petrol tank so just as it crashes into the building...BOOOOM!

Much fun...have to get it out again. :D

I found the demo good fun so i will be gettin it.....its my only choice really as i didnt enjoy COD4's demo .... but ive always had problems with the way the characters move in COD.... just preference ....

I'm running on the rig in my sig on a 32" TV using the hacked settings with AAx2. It's pretty smooth.

The first half is great (Jungle levels) and then it slowly deteriorates from the Alien section onwards.

I run crysis on my 7800GT at 1680x1050 with all options selected as medium, runs fine but can get choppy at a few points but you shouldnt have a problem.
