Crysis E3 Developer Walkthrough

I'm really hoping the jerkiness in those vids is down to the cpu/vid card and not an engine stutter-defect like Half Life 2. That would just be too crap.

Otherwise this looks yummy - what's the latest on release date? Game says Sep 14..

Crytec haven't yet confirmed it as the 14th, infact they kind of brushed over it in the E3 interview saying they would delay further if needed (which isn't really a bad thing), i would guess EA are pushing them for the 14th though.

Usually the stutters happen as the scene is being loaded. Eg. in some games when you look behind it stutters a moment to load. But it happens far too frequently in Crysis... I hope we don't need to buy more RAM :o

I like how people are willing to spend hundreds on an 8800GTX for Crysis but have doubts about spending 60 or so on the insanely fast 2gig rams on offer on OCUK.

There is no confirmed release date...

Oh and dude THE GAME ISN'T FINISHED. So for God's sake of course it still has bugs!

Looks like it's coming along great :)

However, just like the 18min gameplay demo, I notice a fair amount of paging when using binoculars or moving into a new part of the environment. From the speed of switch I think this is GPU-mem to system-mem paging, rather than HDD to sys mem paging.

Hopefully a video card with a larger memory size will counter this, but it's also possible that there is some dynamic LOD adjustment which requires extra calculation when rapidly switching between detail levels (such as during binocular zoom). If this is the case then it's not caused by simple paging, and is unlikely to have such a straightforward remedy.

These stutter are put right in there by EA deep in the code.. Dont think they have ever released a game without the "stutter feature" :p

it looks awesome, the HD videos are even better ... wtached afew *** other day in full screen from various websites. generally they are 100mb or so but worth it!

I am delaying buying myself my new rig because of this game.... everything i play atm works fine on the rig so will wait until we have official specs before buying new pieces.

this game looks like it deserves to be played on ultra high!!!!

can i ask a stupid question... is this game going to be taking advantage of the physx cards or have they avoided that?

It's not going to use physx cards.

The developers said that they were not adopted widely enough and did not offer a big enough potential for improvement to be worth the development effort of supporting them.
