high def foliage is fantastic, and doesnt impact the performance too much
also, i recommend you get a custom config for the graphics settings, since they can get you higher graphics settings than very high and improve your framerate. somewhere in that thread Pighardia linked to is the custom config TheCenturion gave me, and it works great for me (~40FPS @1360x768 with a lowly GTX460)

Are the custom configs just new "game.cfg" files located in mygames/crysis?
I'l have to give some of these mods a go, will probably cripple performance though lol

i cant remember exactly how it works, but i believe you just download a custom config from the interweb and replace the game files with the ones you;ve downloaded.
i think i went for the highest version of CCconfig, but i'm happy to be proved wrong
also, dont worry, i'm probably a bigger noob than you are when it comes to installing mods (i have about 5 different backups of minecraft from trying to install the technic pack)
At at its simplest, custom config just involves adding an autoexec.cfg with the commands you wnat to add, to the game's directory.
Some of the packages that have been made do a bit more than that: they replace a bunch of game files, to create a kmore dramatic effect. But these usually have an installer, so it's just a matter of clicking the exe file and selecting the config version you want to use.

I installed rygel's texture pack, high res foliage, high res grass, rocks and tree textures.
I also installed a custom config by C.U.D.A.T.S.
Holy ****! I have never seen a better looking game...Now I understand when people say just how far pc graphics are superior to consoles. And it all runs on the highest settings 1920x1080 at 40-50 fps!
