Crysis is a piece of **** SPOILERS

Hmm, everyone said the performance gets worse on the carrier, it stayed exactly the same for me.

You aren't alone- I lost a few FPS here and there, but nothing major.

And Warhead does have better performance, but only when in DX9 mode, for some reason on DX10 I loose towards 10fps for no graphical gains (though that seems to be a common issue).

No, he's right. Warhead uses DX10 all across the board unless you go out of your way to turn it off. Crysis uses DX10 when set to Very High unless you go out of your way to edit the cvargroups to include the extra graphical capabilities in DX9. DX10 does indeed 'magically activate' when you set it to Very High. Opting to run the game in either DX9 or DX10 mode is done via a rightclick of a specific game shortcut, it's hardly intuitive and most players probably don't even know this.

That's not right, High settings in Dx10 is still Dx10

Yeah, if you right clicked the shortcut in Vista Games folder and specifically went for DX10 mode.

If you clicked the shortcut like any normal program, it will open in DX9 by default unless you specifically chose Very High - then it will go DX10. It's in the same way Crysis opens to x86 by default unless you went to a specific folder (bin64) and used the specific .exe there.

We're just arguing over nothing now. What Streeteh originally said is right so back off him.

Crysis on High DX9 all the way through for me was fine.

Crysis Warhead on Enthusiast DX9 all the way through was almost fine as well. The train level is a bit demanding and I just put up with the odd slowdown.

at times warhead looks better, it has some moments where it outshines the original, but 90% of the time crysis looks better than warhead, however it does run better in DX9 and DX10 mode (thought it ran crap until i realised i have 16xAA enabled in control panel!) is your crysis patched because i found the ice sphere/carrier levels really choppy first play through, but after i patched to 1.1 performance in those areas improved drastically, if you aren't patched i suggest you patch and see if that helps :) if not use cubans custom config./TODs and set to level 4 or something, looks better than stock very high and runs a **** load smoother

i had many many problems with the final part of crysis, it was so buggy i had to reload from the start of that level more than twice, sometimes id fall through the carrier, other times the game would just lock up at certain parts in the sequence,

graphically the game is abit before its time, the visual technology is incredible really yet people dont really realise that hardware hasnt caught up enough yet.

People compare its performance with heavily scripted corridor shooters like call of duty or gears and dont realise that these games are built with much smaller "arena" type levels where anything beyond the imediate play area dont need to be rendered.

edit: crysis is game breakingly buggy at the end though

well i said for a long time people can't complain, if you sit back and realise just how much cryengine2 is doing at any one given time, all in real-time as far as i know as well, its truely a coding masterpiece

SUCCESS!!!!

I completed it, woo! Pity I had to watch the end sequence with low settings. I reloaded the last sequence, when you are running away from the explosion, in high but for some reason all the colours were inverted so it was really bright and I couldn't make anything out.

Anyway, I can put that game away now and go onto something else, not sure what though.
