might have to pick this up eventually, played crysis when it came out (and seemed to be one of the few people who a; enjoyed it and b; didn't expect my hardware to play it on maximum EVERYTHING!!!) i thought the game was very good, and one of the more innovative games of later years, can't please everyone though i guess!

loved the weightlessness bit as well, one of the highlights of the game, it was quite a peaceful respite but also very chilling

I've not played either of them through that far as i'm waiting for 60fps solid on max everything (long wait ..etc!). I thought warhead was better than crysis though from what i did see.

AA is def bad on the 8-series cards tbh, snowdog :(

Hardly milking anything rereleasing the games, obviously aimed at attracting those who might of ignored Crysis due to having a weaker machine when it was released and then forgot about it. It's also priced, on the website I checked, around the same as just the original on it's own, and cheaper than buying Warhead and Crysis separately.

It's not like they're trying to get people to rebuy the game.

crysis is by far the best example of how good pc gaming can get. when heads come over to my ends crysis is the game to use to show them that thier consoles are a load of crap compared to the pc.

as for AA i use this:

r_useEdgeAA = 2

does some AA on the cheap and along with my moded config for quad core support the game runs great on a 8800gt at 1360x768 rez.

Ya know I just love the soundtrack tbh :P Especially the theme on the menu screen in Warhead...

Both really good games with Warhead edging it!

I tried playing Crysis on release when I had my 8800GTS 320MB and it did struggle, so I decided to wait for an upgrade.

When I got my 4870 last July I decided to give it another go and it was perfectly playable at 1920x1200 with high (not very high) settings.

I actually really enjoyed the game (apart from the ending), loved the nano suit functions.

I haven’t tried Warhead yet but am planning on giving that a go soon.

Also will see what my newly acquired GTX280 can do on the original.

It looks (even more) rubbish without it though and doesn't have some kind of full screen blur to hide the jaggies like GTA IV.

r_UseEdgeAA=2

There you go, I believe it can go from 1-3.

I can't believe a GTA IV fan is saying Crysis has bad jaggies, ****ing ROFL. With EdgeAA Crysis looks freakin' fine.

Also why are you complaining about bad performance? You're using an old card, get over it. Crysis/Warhead are the best looking games out, I don't understand how you can complain using a card based on technology 3 years old.

I found with the 280 it still wasnt quite that playable on Very High @ 1920x1200, but the game is incredibly smooth on 1 (no loading in pauses etc).

Both run like **** for me, Crysis (and Warhead) is still a game I can't run on high with mild AA on 25+ FPS, even on 1280x720... Unless they optimize it for a geforce 8800 it won't see much respect from me. People say GTA IV ran **** but at least that runs 30+ fps even now that I play at 1920x1080... Crysis just fails on my pc, it needs a good gpu and it barely cares about RAM and CPU :(. Gameplay is nothing that really interests me in Crysis, a bit generic...

i get decent performance at 1280*1024 with custom settings (HDR, SSAO, etc) and i have exact same card :confused:

i think hes nuts? :confused: 'if it doesn't have good graphics' where the heck is that information coming from, has this person played crysis? and for goodness sake, don't use FSAA in crysis, its a performance drain, use edge AA, it helps and has tiny performance impact :rolleyes:

where do you put this in the crysis directory? or is it only for when you're using a custom config

I can't remember sorry but I'm sure a google search will find it for you.

You can make a config with just;

r_UseEdgeAA=3

then save it as config.cfg (I THINK!) and drop that in the root Crysis folder, but again I can't really remember but a google search will tell you where to put the config in.

It makes a word of difference to trees and foliage. :)

Crysis + Warhead are the two best FPS games ive ever played.

My one and only complaint, is that there isnt enough ammo for the US assault rifle, as it is awsome.

I LOVED Crysis & Warhead.

On my old rig 2GB+ 2x ATI X1900 @ 1920*1200 it ran ...ok but the jaggies really anoyed me. Then when i buit quad core, 4GB + 2x3870 the AA didnt matter. It ran soo smooth you just didnt need it.

Had to be played on Delta to really get some AI action going. Can remember one part i was totally stuck, there was no way i could kill everyone without dieing within second. Check point ahead & behind, who ever i shot alerted both parties and they came after me. Was really intense inching foward

I don't know where you have learned to count, but the tech in my card was out on October 29, 2007, less than 1 and a half year ago... And don't tell me G80 is the same as G92...

GTA IV looks acceptable because it runs at 1920x1080 and has blur which both help against jaggies, atm, in warhead, the highest res that pops up in the list for me is 1650x1020 or whatever that res is, and it has no blur... EdgeAA still impacted performance for me bad enough when I used to play on 1280x1024 that it became laggy with it, how do you expect me to play this reasonably ?

Can you really look at my pictures and say those look good, nothing there to make up for the poor fps? Imo they look ****, the whole ice level looked quite ****. Fair enough the jungle bits are prolly the prettiest in any game, but I'm not there now am I, I'm stuck in some rubbish ice bit. Which happens to run very poor too.

Finally, can you really say that when I upgrade to a gtx260 or hd4780, my game will run fine at 1920x1080, a res almost twice as big as the res I'm trying at the moment, on a card that only has about 60% (the gtx260 anyways) more power ?

i think hes nuts? :confused: 'if it doesn't have good graphics' where the heck is that information coming from, has this person played crysis? and for goodness sake, don't use FSAA in crysis, its a performance drain, use edge AA, it helps and has tiny performance impact :rolleyes:

Have you seen my pictures, they are from a level about 2 hours in the game or so, you could have used your brain than to say that I haven't played it, the jungle graphics are awesome, the Ice levels are quite disgusting imo.

Edge AA last time I have tried it was nearly just as bad as normal 2x aa.

Can you honestly say that the graphics in the pictures I've posted look better than any other game ? To me it looks like a Q3 engined game there with upgraded textures, blur, and particle effects.

i get decent performance at 1280*1024 with custom settings (HDR, SSAO, etc) and i have exact same card

Could you by any chance send your config to me ? Email in trust :) ?

AA is def bad on the 8-series cards tbh, snowdog
Not in any other game, pretty much all games I play can handle 8x CSAA @ 1920x1080, but I know I know all those games don't have such heavy post processing as Crysis so it isn't such a hit on them.

I tried playing Crysis on release when I had my 8800GTS 320MB and it did struggle,
You seem to forget the 512 version according to reviews in actual games gives the same framerates as an 8800GTX though. ( according to tomshardware on ''sum of all fps in games'' ). The 8800GTS 320mb is a much slower card than an 8800GTS 512. In fact, it's nearly just as fast as a HD4850 on average... (see http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/.../compare,795.html?prod[2116]=on&prod[2070]=on)

Finally, would it be worth running this in dx9 instead of dx10 mode?
