Is there a way of downloading this without paying a subscription to fileplanet?

dont need a subscription to download the client anymore, it was added to the free servers on fileplanet.

they may have taken it off the public servers now as the beta is ending soon.

EDIT: just checked and you only need a free account and be loged in then goto Here and get it from a free server, most have a queue of about 25mins tho.

The beta test end date has been officially extended to Nov 15th. However, in order to continue playing past Nov 1st, you will need to re-enter your beta key. You will be prompted to do this automatically when starting up multiplayer.

because there was a batch of keys that non subscribers could get from fileplanet, so they needed somewhere to download it.
