Crysis Req

I reckon a 7900GTX/X1950 odd will run some or most of the settings on High where as you'll need a 8800 series for Maximum settings and total eye candy.

Guys this game is going to be very optimisable can run on wide range of rigs

Don’t expect you're 8800gtx to run high res with every option maxed out.

They stated before it might a year or two before hardware is out to handle it in its full glory

Just like Far Cry took at least a year for the hardware to catch up and show what the engine really had to offer.

Though i remember a few months back one of the crysis dx10 demoes was running pretty smoothly on a single 8800gtx but don't take my word for it

Was quite a while ago, but they did say a high-end Far Cry rig will be a low-end Crysis rig... and wasn't a high-end Far Cry rig a 9800 XT? So even if they've pushed that up, which I'm sure they have, I wouldn't be suprised to see it running on an X800 on low settings :)

The high-end PC market has to be pretty tiny in comparison to the mid-range market. Surely a game dev company would have to be pretty stupid to spend years on a game that will only be sold to a small market!

DX9 will look awesome - I really don't think anyones going to play in DX9 mode and think they're missing on anything, it's only when you compare them or go from DX10 down to DX9 that you're going to notice things.

LoL!
Running Crysis is one thing, it actually being any good is another :D
I thought Farcry was THE worst game I'd ever played. Man, Baywatch had better actors ;)

Yh gameplay wise it wasnt revolutionary and the story was suspect but the graphics at the time were top notch. Overall as a game it was average, more of tech demo, lets just hope that crysis adds a good story to its repetoire.

Really? I am playing for far cry for the first time at the moment. I think its fantastic. In fact, the graphics are far better than the majority of the current releases I can think of.

Now, Atari on the other hand release games that nothing can run smoothly without a whole hog of tweaks and fixes - even on the most powerful of machines, and even then its mostly a hit and miss affair.

rich coming from an oblivion nut ;) :D

I'd take this with a pinch of salt - I've always said there's no use worrying about minimum specs until the game actually comes out (or at least goes gold).

My rule of thumb is generally to ignore the min specs, look at the recommended spec, and add 50% to the cpu, 33% to the RAM and 100% to the gfx. That value is 'real' min spec for decent performance.

So in this case (assuming these are real - are they direct from Crytek/Ubisoft?), we're talking something around AMD X2 5600+, 2gig RAM and 8600GTS or thereabouts.

FarCry a tech demo, are you insane? I suppose that Half Life 2 was also a tech demo for the source engine then.

Oblivion is like good whiskey.....
whilst some think it's muddy water, others think its nectar from heaven :D
Farcry on the other hand was nothing more than a tin of fosters :D :D
At least far cry worked well on most people's PC's!

I got bored of far cry pretty quickly, the game just looked pretty lol

I actually reinstalled it a couple of weeks ago, it still looks good, but still cant find the time to play it.
