Crysis SP demo not working :(

I'm getting a bit frustrated with this! Sorry if its in the main thread but I can't get through 13 pages!

Basically when I start it up I get through all the nvidia and intel adverts, get to the menu and it freezes up, the music keeps playing but there's no movement.

Sometimes it tells me the display adapter has stopped responding, sometimes it just does nothing, sometimes I can ctrl/shift/esc out of it and sometimes I can't.

I'm running a Q6600 at 3.2ghz, 2GB ram, 8800GTX and vista ultimate 32.

I've tried downloading the demo from 3 places and 163.69 and 169.01 drivers and all do the same thing, also tried running as admin and still nothing!

Any pointers?

I assume I'm doing the right thing to start it? Going to program files, EA, blah blah, bin32 then crysis? Is that it?

yep your using the correct exe fella, sounds like driver issue's but im no expert ... have you tried running the benchmarks yet ? see if they work
i posted in the Crysis main thread that i went back to using the 163.71 drivers as they seem the most stable for me in all games so maybe give them a go


**edit when installing the drivers make sure you use a decent program like Driver Cleaner Pro and read the instrustions**
**Display adapter stopped responding is a known driver fault, i got that loads with some new drivers again 163.71 fixed it for me**

Not hijacking this thread but I've installed the demo twice and nothing appears in my "Games" folder at all. Should there be a shortbut/icon there?

(Vista Ultimate x64 btw)

same here, games folder in start menu just has all the minesweeper and solitaire guff.

sweet thats fixed it, its a bloody good job the 8800GTX packs a load of horsepower as well as DX10 compatibility as DX10 seems to be much more bother than its worth.
 
nice tip for ppl who like fps in the 40's/50's:
Set shadows to low and shader to medium, then set the rest to high.
it still looks great but its so smooth it makes up with *** drop in eye candy imo.
Oh and run in Dx9 mode as 10 is gay.
