Crysis to be released on console

High end PC's struggle with it usually because they try to run it at the very highest settings at ridiculous resolutions. I'd imagine the quality would be somewhere near the console version of Crysis 2. Plus I never trust those changes in the ratings board, there was a rumour of a GTA game for the 3DS as in 2010 Vice City was given a new rating. Turns out it was because of a change in the distribution or some such.

It'd be a day one purchase for me, I really enjoyed Crysis, but haven't been able to get into the sequel.

Great game on PC Visually but game play wise utter boring cack, Really dont see why they are doing it sales would be low id of thought too

The thing with Crysis is that it's easy to get sucked into thinking it's one of the best games released in recent times with all the hype that surrounds it. I actually enjoyed playing through it the first time with my old hardware, though it did get tiresome when the aliens appeared. When I tried to play through it again with my new hardware it looked awesome, but felt average and I noticed a lot of complaints people had raised about it. That time I only played a few missions and got a little bored. I loved the idea of the nanosuit, but dumb enemies and wierd glitches prevented it feeling awesome when you played.

Crysis 2 I found even worse, It felt very dumbed down, the enemies were even dumber, I found the story stupid and boring and the graphics weren't as good.

The only reason I think it's an ok idea to release it on consoles it to fill players in on the original story and events from the first game, however seeing as how the gameplay is slightly different I think many people who played Crysis 2 first will be put off.

It's highly likely not to be a direct port, but a significant redesign in Cryengine3 (The original PC game is on CE2) with Crysis 2's gameplay structures in place including the nanosuit functions. I'd imagine some of the maps will be pared down and made slightly smaller and linear so the consoles wouldn't have to render as much as the typical PC version.

It probably won't even be referred to as simply Crysis or Crysis 1; it's a completely different story to the sequel and they aren't even remotely linked except for the inclusion of Prophet in both.

But as it stands, it's pretty much impossible to port the original PC game over to consoles. There's just too much to render even on the lowest settings. Everyone remembers the CE3 console tech demos - there's a part of the original game's Beach level shown, but there's literally no trees being rendered across the expanse of the beach...

Only if Crysis had CS Source gameplay mechanics:D.

I haven't come across any FPS that can beat CS Source in fluidity of movement, ease of gameplay and fast pace:)

Console gamers will be disappointed, every pc gamer tries to run this on the highest settings possible and this will be the quality they'd expect.

Do you mean story, graphics or gameplay-wise?

Now that DX11 patch is out what do you think overall?

Well this is the console section so dx11 performance discussion is over here as the console version of crysis doesn't get the update obviously.

I personally dont see the point in releasing crysis 1 or warhead on console. Both were decent games and still provide the wow factor visually but this will be missing in the console version also id imagine invisible walls will be put in. Guess if the new engine is more optimized though and they some how manage it does anybody really care now?

My view of Crysis is that it was more of a tech demo than a well crafted gameplay experience. I'm sure people had hours of fun sitting in a bush waiting for their stealth to recharge, and on the harder settings there wasn't really any other way of playing the game as you die so quickly. The graphics were great, but the gameplay was nowhere near the same quality, in my opinion.

I'm currently playing through Crysis with Hd texture pack and realifesis 2 installed and its amazing but even so I'd love to play it on console. PC gaming is an unreliable headache with crashes and lockups for no apparent reason, games refusing to run one day when having been perfectly fine the previous day, drm and online activation and generally having to fidget around with stuff. I will only play a PC game if its exclusive, otherwise I will always buy the console version as the only difference I can make out is resolution, aa settings and framerate - all of which is heavily dependant on your hardware. I know there are many who love PC gaming and good on them, we're all gamers at the end of the day irrespective of platform, but PC gaming isn't for me.

As for Crysis itself, well, as the E3 Cryengine 3 tech footage from a couple of years ago clearly shows the consoles are more than capable of running Crysis. Coupled with the fact Crysis 2 is already out and looking superb on console. Crysis is one of my favourite games ever and I would love to be able to play it on my consoles preferably the 360, but I'm sure the Ps3 version would be superb too.
