Crysis = Unplayable

sorry but i have never managed to get crysis looking worse than far cry, are we playing the same game here? also if your using vista run in DX9 rather than 10, improves performance a little
 
I was on driver 169.12, switched back to 163.75 due to instability and I got worse performance.

Any idea on why 169.12 is considerably smoother?
 
I play it on a macbook pro (2.Ghz, 2GB, 256MB 8600GTM) on 1440x900, low shadows and lighting and the rest medium to high - plays very nicely indeed. seems like there may be something up with the OP's machine.

hardly ideal, but tried a fresh install of Windows?
 
At least evryone got to play it. Just bought it today and it won't even install, comes up with an error code (1311-file not found) done some research and probably a duff dvd, really annoying tho. It can't be my rig, i surpass the minimun requirements quite dramatically. If the next disc doesn't I'm not going to be a happy camper
 
Its perfectly fine for me plays well.

I have made my self custom Cvar's with all the fps of medium but with the eye candy of high.

(these are not my fps but just an example)
If you run the game all high and get 20fps.
And if you run it all high but shader medium and get 55-60fps.
then these cvars let you run all high with about 5fps lower than medium shaders with all the eye candy of high like hdr etc.
theres even some dx10 settings in there but the ones that dont impact fps

:) Im not the first to upload custom cvars but i hope you enjoy mine.
