~ * Crysis Warhead - Official Thread * ~

I'm pretty hyped for this tbh

Can't wait to see what it runs like !

:D

A few also confirm it's running significantly smoother than the original too. Some guys are managing Enthusiast (very high) when they could only manage High on the original.

Interestingly, they say Enthusiast (very high) now only runs off DX9, not DX10. It seems DX10 was removed.

I want to know what all this "activation/3 installs and that's it" malarkey is? I've got the DVD version on pre-order from the South American river company, but I'm very tempted to cancel it if that's the case, and get it from Steam :(

Could someone in the know, clarify?

Cheers,

SW.

Hmmm....

I'm wary of believing this looks better than the first game. Something's gotta have given.

They basically made a lot of 'DX10 only' features DX9. I'm betting the illusion of faster framerates is simply down to making it DX9 instead of DX10 more than anything else. Obviously you have the engine fixes.

The developers probably took a long, good hard look at everyone's custom configs too - and implemented changes to the engine based on those. The original Crysis came with the equivalent of a horrible, ugly and clunky config. I've no doubt Warhead has changes to its config that were copied by those such as Xconfig, Cuba's Custom Config, Natural Beauty, etc.

yep screw it, steam version it is. if you don't like drm and still want the game then let EA know by buying it on steam rather than retail and maybe they'll get the message..maybe anyway :p

:D how've you got that? early retail sale?

great! if i was 14 with a paper round and couldn't afford £15-20 i'd be right on that!

That COULD be STEAM and the game is so far locked (I'm guessing as do not use STEAM).

Crysis was so buggy it was not worth buying, this COULD be the same.

I never experienced one crash on Crysis. In fact the only bug I ever experienced was not dropping the rocket after you'd run out of ammo. They fixed this though.

This is annoying. They should have released the game by now. It seems we may have to wait till the 19th to get it :(
