Any one got any idea why crysis Warhead is cheaper than the original. i could undersand igf it was an expansionbut its stand alone

Would you recomend i buy that one or the original crysis first. i realy want to play it but grudge paying more for the origianl.

The original Crysis is horribly optimised and will rape most PC's down to single frames with eye candy moderately set, Warhead on the other hand is very well optimised, and so runs ace on most decent specs.. I played Warhead but didnt complete the original I still enjoyed it.

My Current spec is Q6600 cpu @2.4ghz 2GB RAM, 8800GT 512 GFX and tomorow will be adding samsung F1 Spinpoint HDD. Do you recon it will have my machine on its knees im fairy new to gameing you see and trying to learn. any help would be great

i personally prefer crysis warhead to the origanal crysis, runs a lot better than the original did and to me seems like a better story, although they're both way to short.

Hmmm im stuck wether to bother with it. i like the look of it and the videos of it bu. seams a lot going against it. i will probably just go buy it after work tho

Its a stand alone expansion with more optomised code. If they ahd wanted this to come as a regular expansion it would probably have meant them optomising the entire first game then making the expansion.

might stuggle a bit i think.... Warhead uses 3.5g of my ram. still for less than £20 what haveyou got to loose.

I didn't like the 1st crysis but really enjoyed the 2nd one. in fact i'm playing through it for the 2nd time now!

It'll be fine on that rig, certainly on DX9; I run it on DX9 with a 3870 and it is fine on enthusiast up until the last level, when I need to drop it down to gamer for it to be playable.

get it, good game and it doesn't run half as bad as a lot of people say at reasonable resolutions, your 8800GT will run it high at 1280*1024 and be perfectly playable, plus its not to costly these days :)

run in DX10 mode with streaming and superfetch disabled, works fine for me, nice and smooth and only using 2Gb memory at the moment :)

DX10 ran like a dog for me, quick switch to DX9 and all was good!

same here at first, but since one of me memory modules is dead (i think) it was neccesary, since DX9 simply uses to much memory and i got great framerate (40FPS+) all the time but stuttering. started DX10 mode, realised it used a CRAP load less memory, disabled superfetch to free up more memory since it doesn't seem to do anything except use memory? edited custom config. to include e_stream=0 to turn of streaming and all runs fine, sure its down to 30 - 35FPS but has no stuttering at all and is perfectly fluid, more so than DX9 with less FPS :)

I run it on my rig (XP SP DX9) at 1024x768, all settings on max with 2x AA and get avg 60+ fps according to Fraps, so should be ok on GT with no AA.

depends on res :) 1440x900 on my 19" its very happy with the pc in my sig.
can play with half the settings on gamer and the other half on enthusiast. and get fps around 30 which is very playable in crysis. and i prefer warhead to the original.

oh and if you get it, overclocking your GT as far as it will go will help it a lot. though i do have to set the fan at 80% to keep it from crashing due to temps..
