Just wondering out of curiosity what gaming setups people play with for Counter-Strike 1.6 and Counter-Strike: Source.

I'm in the process of changing mine, and wanted to get some ideas.

My current setup is:

Microsoft Optical mouse (Previously a Razer Imperator but had sensor issues)
Mouse Bungee
Steelseries Qck
Dull old Microsoft Media Keyboard
Sennheiser HD558

Ingame sensitivity: 2.5
Resolution: 800x600
Refresh rate: 120Hz

I'm looking at the Steelseries Sensei as a replacement mouse, but still undecided.

why do you play at such low resolution!

i just use

Microsoft sidewinder x5 mouse
Logitech g11 (i find this keyboard way too wide, need a new one)

around 1400 dpi on my mouse.
1920x1080
60hz

I played CS1.3 competitively on a higher resolution than that.

I don't know what pro config you've been reading about but it seems silly.

Used to play CS 1.6 and earlier back in the day.
800*600 was my choice of resolution.
I could go to 1280*1024 but it was better played at the lower res.

I play top lvl CSS

800x600 the way to go.

Haha top lvl CSS? Source is awful, most "top" UK 1.6 players switched over and they turned into world beaters.

Low resolution because the models are bigger and map feels closer.

Steelseries QcK Heavy
Intellimouse 3.0

In game:

640x480
Large crosshair
Non-translucent green
CPL mousefix
2.8 sensitivity

cs1.6 player since cs 1.3

intellimouse explorer 3.0
Steelseries S&S
Sennheiser hd555 (also have 5hv2 in my secondary setup)
Resolution 1280x1024 (1440x900 on secondary) 75hz on both
sens: 2.25 with noforce commands

I used 640x480 for ages until i finally got a tft (late adopter) and used native resolution.
Lower resolutions just feel "more right" for this game, especially 640x and 800x.

Something that a few of you dont know is that the game is not meant to be played on widescreen resolutions, so if you use one then the upper and lower part of the image are cut off. Basically this is a disadvantage against old-school resolutions.

I don't understand why a low resolution is preferable? Surely you can aim and make out distance detail better at higher resolutions?

From what I remember the game was created with 800x600 at that time. So anything past that want give you better textures. Besides sharper geometric shapes (which is negligible in gameplay) you wont get anything. This and what i mentioned above.

uk hasnt been good at any cs since 4k
Correction: uk hasnt been moderately good at any cs since 4k

internationally, 4k didn't accomplish anything worthy (if at all).

4K didn't win CPL or ESWC but they did have a brilliant streak of games. I'm sure they came 1st or 2nd at WEG, beating teams like GamerCo etc.

Also while they didn't win CPL, they did go into triple overtime against 3D in the semi-final. 04 or 05 I think?

Because you have players like wEZ, wilzOOO and RattlesnK who were "top" UK in 1.6, but absolutely average internationally. Now they're the elite in source.

Mousesports (who were regarded as one of the best source teams, with RattlesnK) got absolutely demolished by SK in a CS:GO showmatch. That just highlights the difference in ability.

Only a casual CSS player, played 1.5 and 1.6 prior to CSS coming out. Wanting to get back into playing more regularly.

Logitech MX Performance Mouse
Logitech G15 Keyboard
Resolution - 1680x1050
Sensitivity I think is around 2.4

Sound-wise is either Creative 7.1 speakers or Creative Fatal1ty headset.

cyborg keyboard
G500
1080p Resolution (for 1.6,cz,css) sensitivity on 1.6 is highest in game, lowest mouse dpi
css cocked the aiming up for me because i had it the same as 1.6 then they changed all the sliders and i cant get used to it.. so i just play whatever it is with the mouse dpi down again.

Fatal1ty headset thats about 3 years old and needs changing!
