Is there still a competitive scene out there for CS 1.6? I've tried looking but can't find much:/ If there isn't, has CSS taken over and become what 1.6 used to be? Or has CS died down as a competitive game?

Well I think I am now addicted, got CS, DOD and the Source Equivalents working perfectly on my netbook and they're working fantastically via my Three Mobile Broadband Mifi connection seems much quicker than the USB modem was, getting a bit addicted now though!!!!

Both are as good as each other. Would say 1.6 is the more competitive, if thats what your after go for it.

For 1.6, all you need really is to go onto theSGL and ESL, that's where the main bulk of competition is.
For CS:S, just uninstall the game, it's pants since the Orange Box "Update". But if you are seriously looking to play it, again try ESL, there are a load others as well, the EnemyDown ladders are still pretty active as well. There are always loads of cups and leagues running for CS:S, more-so than 1.6, but the game's just don't compare to be honest ;)

had 3 mixes with totally random ppl on a pub server i usually go on in css yesterday,

was my first wars in 2yrs and we lost the first game 16/12, but then went on to play a pretty decent german team on inferno but absolutly hammered them so they kicked and banned us,

then we managed to get a 3rd game which was against the 1st team we lost against co incedentaly but again we absolutly demolished them this time.

Really brought back my love for css but to play it properly you really need to have a select group of friends/clan mates you can play wars with that wont rage if your losing.

Css has taken more hours of my life than any other game and i wouldnt have it any other way :)

If i was gunna get back into either of them it would defo be 1.6, CSS never did it for me. It's quite good to hear that there's still a scene out there somewhere, I was looking around SGL recently and it seemed like not much was going on. Anyone know any decent irc channels to find mix's on?

mr15 and pub servers? :p

I've been toying with the idea of getting back in to CS myself. I just don't have the time though. If I did, I wouldn't even consider Source.. Unless it was to lol my way to the top.

I have played both cs source and cs 1.6. Tbh I didn't find 1.6 as enjoyable as source which to me seems to have more fluid gameplay and more sophistication.:p

1.6 is for the competitive player in my opinion.

I do like CSS and have not played CS 1.6 in a long time but I think I will give it a bash now.

Just reinstalled 1.6, will probably get owned after not playing it for a few years :D

That's my problem with all online games.. I play loads then get good, get bored, break away, come back after a lengthy absence and just get OWNED ! There must be people who just play the same game over and over again, years upon years of the same game perfecting everything they do...
