CS 1.6 still being played?

Why would Valve keep updating a game they don't make any money from any more? They want people to buy CS:S and then the one that will replace that...

played it recently, its STACKED. cs is as good as if not better than css imo. its a great game, finally css is taking over though lol.

nothing competes with the way 1.6 plays, so much better than any other fps. just seems more crisp and shots can be placed with burst without relying on luck most of the time.

the clan scene is what i missed most (i only played on publics before a clan match to get match ready). meeting up on irc and have a chat with the clan before a game.

then the community got sour with more cheats being used in clan matches and i could not be bothered with going through the demo or hltv demo to prove the guy was cheating (not that it made any difference, they just change clan and alias and start over)

now the closest thing i play nowadays is cod and whilst its a very good game it doesnt hold a torch to 1.6, and dont mention css its a joke full stop.

Valve are a joke, they barely update their most used games Css and 1.6.

Css is so littered with bugs, if they just took some time out of their day and listened to the players they could make the game the forefront of competitive gameplay.

Cs 1.6 is a very top end game, with a much high skill player on average and at lans along with having a 10 times prize pot lead on Css lans.

1.6 Intel lan in america had a grand prize of $50,000 and 2nd place $25,000.
Css i36 lan in UK had a grand prize of £3000 and £2500 for second or something around that area. It barely makes it worth while for Css clans to go into europe, because they pretty much have to win to make any money.

They won't put that much money into it, as it wouldn't give them much (if any) return.

I play it yeh.
I plays so much better than source.
Its pefect for going in and honing your skills, then when you go play source after you dominate because your used to aiming for a headshot box the size of, well, a head, not an airballoon ;-)
Also it has some of the best mods and maps, far better than source.

I played CS:S for the 1st time in years last week and my god it is so lame compared to COD 4 , i couldn't go back to playing it as it looks like a spectrum game lol, technology moves on, aiming was well dodgy to, got quite a few headshots that never registered, move to COD 4 people CS is dead (until the next game) :)

FFS they need to update this game, it still has a huge fanbase.

Theres no reason why they should release 1.7

What would you change? New weapons? New maps? New people?

The new weapons they added were crap and the new maps normally too biased.

The community is still there making custom maps and the only weapons which are used (M4/AK) and as such nothing will change it just ruin it.

The only way they can really update counterstrike is new graphics and the amount they'd get with the current source engine is not worthwhile. New game modes is another option, but I'll expect the next counterstrike version to be with Half Life 3's engine personally. Before hand = not much point. Also, there aren't that many bugs left with the current version, not game breaking ones anyway, so there's not much point there either. Besides most of my headshots register fine, if they miss it's usually my fault. CSS is much harder than cod4, that's the way it's meant to be.
