I've been after one since December, but still no luck. Looks like most of us will have to wait for the open beta - whenever that happens.

When is the game actually due out?
Summer 2012 is the word right now, unless I'm mistaken the exact release date hasn't been confirmed yet.

Realistically, I think we'll see a release around October time and the open beta taking place in August/September. I've been really impressed by the amount of work & research that Valve / Hidden Path have put in so far. It's just a shame a lot of us long-time CS players haven't had a chance to sample the beta yet

Absolutely - from what I've seen they're aiming to (eventually) combine the 1.6 & Source scene into one large player base with CS:GO. I see they've made 'SE' (strippped down) versions of the classic competitive maps to eliminate clutter, particle & fog effects. Can't comment on them obviously, but this is a certainly a good sign.

At i45 over the weekend, some guy on stage which was some huge huge name in all CS was commentating on the live CSS final between TT.dragons and Very Games. He spoke about CSGO for about 15 mins and said he’d been speaking to all the pro teams around Europe who all said CSGO a few months back was awfull… However they’ve really turned it around and pretty much all the pro teams including all COD4MW players intend to make the move when the game comes out!
I got a key from a competition on these very forums, I'm a long time CS player, playing competitively in the ED UK league at one time and I have to say the more I have played of the beta the better I think it is. I started off thinking it was too 'console-ified' large weapon models on screen, what looked like a smaller FOV, but actually it works very well - I hope they don't allow cross play between 360/PS3 and PC however, as quite simply the keyboard and mouse would win.
They confirmed that they weren't developing the cross platform play quite a while ago now.
Been trying to get a key for a while as well crossing my fingers for tomorrows batch but the odds of getting in seem pretty low.

If the Beta Keys are distributed in relation to your Steam rating (which I've read a few times) then I've got no chance - mine's 0.2! If Tribes: Ascend was on Steam I'd be laughing
