CS Pro Mod

Hello csp-fans!

I downloaded the mappack today and I got a horrible suprise. You can STILL shoot through stonewalls. How can it be possble. CS is supposed to realistiv, right? I know that a lot of people like the walling. But to me walling is just a very lame way to frag. When u reload you probably take cover behind a wall cos bullet SHOULDN'T get through it, just as simple as that.

he does have a fair point you shouldnt be able to shoot through a think wall, maybe through a corner of a wall, door yes but not a big wall it is impossible. Tbh though when i have played 1.6 spamming walls after people run past them is fun but one thing that does annoy the hell out of me is if you get shot you stop dead and struggle to move for a split second.

if you cant wait to start spamming on source why dont u just stick with 1.6

Pro Mod is meant to be, as explained earlier, a port of 1.6 onto the Source engine, so for all intents and purposes it should play like 1.6 but with the graphics engine of source, and keep the original game play styles of the 1.6 maps rather than deal with all the ***** they pile in the source maps.

I think what they are trying to achieve is CS 1.6 but more presentable through the Source engine, something to do with the increased media attention that e-sports is getting they want 1.6 to look better and nicer on the eyes!

No swearing.

I thought that they were also bringing in some aspects of earlier CS mods such as the gun recoil from 1.5 etc. Im not too sure but im positive I read something like this before.

It was suppose to be exactly that, a port of 1.6 on the source engine.
Sorry but you are completely wrong, you answer this in your own post

It's nothing of the sort. The behaviour of the guns is totally different. The movement is totally different. The physics on nades etc is totally different. The reg is totally different (bad basically). The maps are somewhat different (short on dust2 for example). Basically most aspects that gave the original its "feel" as a competitive FPS are gone
If you want further info, from valve site
This team-oriented online shooter pits terrorists and counter-terrorists against one another in round-based combat set all over the world. Using the power of the “Source” engine, the original Counter-Strike has been completely remade as Counter-Strike: Source—offering upgraded graphics, levels, and the implementation of a new physics engine. Counter-Strike will never be the same!

ProMod is trying to achieve what Source never was, we know it is a completely different game with different physics, models, maps etc and so be it. But ProMod is ironing out the creases from Source that make it so crap and go back to 1.6/1.5/1.3 gameplay.

I dont know how some of you can't grasp this concept.

I understand Source has bugs but I don't understand why its 'crap'

I dont know why 1.6 players get so upset when someone mentions source, if you dont like it, dont play it?

I hope CS Pro mod does well and works, will keep the 1.6 community from spilling over into source ;)

its cos most cant afford pcs to run source well enough :p

hit the nail on the head there james, if they dont like it, dont play it :)

The only reason 1.6 ran so well is because it was so damm old... People think that CS ran well on PCs in 1998? :P

utter bull
load of people have played source and gone back to 1.6 and it is not because they don't have sufficiently powerful enough PCs to run it.

I would never go back to 1.6, I hated it when it was released and still hate it now. However I would go back to 1.5.

Looking promising

I switched from regularly playing source to 1.6 for 3 months in May and now going back to CSS just feels wrong, but I have been playing CS since 0.4 so know what made CS great all these years.

They feel like very different games now as when I first switched I liked the better physics and visuals of CSS and didn't mind the subtle game-play changes.

Hopefully Pro can bring to the table the best features of both :)

Maybe theyv had to move over to stay with the community, face it, cs is more than a game. a lot of clans etc moved over, forcing some to go with it.
Theres not really any difference between the 1.6 and source community anyway, they generally made up of a majority of absolutely morons.
People are entitled to an opinion, let them critiscise source, they just feel let down because it did lose a bit of magic compared to earlier cs versions, more than 1.6 did atleast.
They see 1.6 as the lesser of 2 evils

The net code is hardwired into the source engine, which no mod can directly alter.
They can't really do anything that couldn't be done with the existing cvars, or a server dll; netcode wise.
cs:s dod:s hl2:d share the same basic netcode, as well as media formats. This is how come gary's mod can load and use anything from them.

The biggest difference will be the way weapons feel, thats something they will have direct control over.

Should be intersting to see how it turns out, would be funny if it became more popular than both cs's :D
