CS:S problem

yes, i've only ever played on public servers, and never once played a proper match, I bow down to your uber skills and your assumption that not a single decent player players on a public server ever, well done.

Theres public server, like i dunno gamershell servers 1 through 58, then theres clan servers without passwords with primarily all clan match players. They might not be the best clans ever, but that doesn't make them bad.

THe most funny thing is people who think they are uber elite in a semi decent clan who barely ever play against anyone except themselves or 1 or 2 other teams as practice. They don't seem to understand that different people play differently and a variety of people to play against helps you far more than playing against the same 6 people over and over and over again. Everyone has their favourite tactics and hiding spots, if you practice against a very limited set of people you will get used to the way those people play, but not necessarily how the next team you face will play.

Meh, always get bored arguing with elitist people who think they simply must be better purely because they enter a password when entering a server yes, your ability to type in a password does prove that your better than anyone else

It's getting late so i won't post much. However, First i'll start with
"if you aren't good at a game in 2 weeks, you won't be great in 4 years either."
which you stated earlier in the topic. Is that a serious comment or are you just stupid?

The fact is, you've never entered a competitive game/match on CSS, basically you haven't actually played the game. I in no way think i'm better than anyone, although you must when you state stuff along the lines of
"i still laugh at people that insist on certain cfg files, right size crosshair, this that and the other."

Following on, let me explain that, public does NOT make you a better player in the long run, sure it's great if you're just starting off. So, you have a variety of players you're going against.. according to you. But the truth is you're playing against people that have just bought the game, and have practically no idea what's going on. So yeah, congrats, you made it to rank 1 in the UK. That's the comment that annoyed me the most, you made rank 1 out of however many newcomers to the game, Well done sir.

Then you mentioned
"I joined 3 clans and found all 3 ghosted a lot"
, What the hell do you expect? You joined them on a PUBLIC server. Heck knows where you came to the conclusion that clans only verse 1-2 other teams in their gameplay, You've obviously talking about something you know not a lot about. Any 'normal' clan, signs up for leagues, plays IRC matches, mixes. There is MORE than enough variety when playing as a 5 player team against people on IRC and leagues then just watching the tactics of 1-2 other teams.

Sure, keep playing public, your comment on you being the elite rank 1# in the UK spot means nothing.

Good Game.

No-one has really answered the OPs question regarding HL crashing.

This happens to me too, im a Vista64 user, sometimes hl2 just stops working for no apparent reason

When I play CS:S, after a while the game'll either crash and say hl2.exe has stopped working or the sound will stop.

What could be the problem?

I'm using Vista by the way.

ALSO how do people manage to get such long range kills with like the M4 with one or two shots, it seems impossible when I try and do it.

Many thanks neighbourinos

Could your PC be overheating?

He was wondering what the problem was with his cs:s, Unlike you lot I thought id stay on track . . . . ;)

I dont think it is an overheating problem, i am thinking it must be a bug with Vista 64bit, as it seems to only be happening in that.

Does anyone with XP 64bit have the same problems?

I use Vista x64 and dont have a problem (Except it coming up HL2 has caused a problem and needed to close . . AFTER I close down the game )

I have the same problem with CS:S randomly crashing. Also when i exit the game, either manually or because it has crashed i get the HL2.exe has stopped working error message.

Clock down your GFX 10Mhz or so, mine used to do this also but I was OC'ing my gfx card too much.
Smallest white crosshair possible 4tw
How do you get a white crosshair?

The thing is my card is running at stock, and i never used to get the error message with XP Home 32bit.

Will nonetheless give it a go and see what happens. If it only happened when i manually close the game then i wouldn't mind but sometimes it seems to crash the game.
