CS:S v UT3 - GD

Pffft 1.5, I had been playing since beta 6.5, seen it mature all the way up to CS:S. Of course it got really dull after all that time and other, more fun games were released since so I haven't really played it in over 3-4 years :p
 
CSS requires more skill to play than UT3 as you die in just a few shots and have to think about what you are doing, unlike UT3 where you can run round like an idiot almost randomly and still do quite well. However, neither require much of anything on public servers, so it doesn't really matter.
 
I far more prefer UT3 to CS:S.

In CS:S its like run, die, wait. Then repeat.

UT3 takes a much broader set of skills because you have to pilot vehicles, hold down nodes, use the orb strategically.

At the end of the day its just a matter of opinion I suppose. I prefer UT3 by far. Having said that, the 2 games are so different, I can't imagine it affecting your ability in UT3 after you play CS. I mean, you ain't gonna be reaching for no hoverboard key in CS, right ;)
 
I find CS-S boring on publics, but competitive CS-S 5v5 is great, especially with your mates

I have been playing Counter Strike since beta 5.2 and have seen all the changes, CS-S is almost spot on IMO now, it did have a shakey start mind...
 
but if you good enough and kill everyone and have scores like 47:12 you will be enjoying in game

I found it enjoyable when i first started whilst i was getting scores of 5-20, it let me know how i could improve and where the better players would rush.
 
Servers that ban weapons really **** me off. They call you a noob etc just becuase you use the awp. It would be a totally different story if they were actually any good at using the weapon. Total morans, too many muppits in the game tbh, I played it since launc and stopped around 8 month ago.
I will probably play it sometime again when I can actually be arsed installing it. The game can be quite stressfull though.
 
I happily jump between CS:S, cod4 and UT3. I love all 3 of them, and actually find that after a few hours of UT instagib my aim in css is much better.
 
I used to play CSS and UT a lot (occasionally go on UT3 quite a bit).

CSS IS more relaxing if you find a good server with some good people to chat to whilst you're not actually playing. I'm in a non competitive CSS clan and our server is the only one I ever go on, because to me the game isn't competitive like UT3 is mostly, once i've been killed I'll wait and chat to the other guys, then play again, repeat.

It's more relaxing than UT3 which is pretty much stare at the screen, on edge, fighting to be at the top :D

I hate that. Can you imagine a UT server that bans the rocket launcher or the flak cannon?
 
kingpin - life of crime had a lot of whiners on, if you used the flamethrower on them... i say; learn to kill me before i can get close enough to flame you!!!!

If the awpers were half as 'ninja' as they think they are then they'd do just as well with a scout. So why don't they use a scout? Cause you can't insta kill people with a shot to the toenail with the scout. :p

The range and accuracy of the awp are fine. But it should only be a one-shot kill if hits the head or upper torso, and do maybe 50% damage for hitting the lower torso or limbs. Also the accuracy penalty for being hit should be longer lasting. It shouldn't be possible to take three or four hits to limbs/body from the AK and recover your aim in half a second. If they made changes like these, the skilled snipers would do just as well. The noob cannoneers would, of course, whinge endlessly :D

And FWIW I'd school most ppl with AWP. It's just not balanced.
