CSS help required

What I want to do is get the site container (<div id="container">) to extend all the way to the bottom of the page, regardless of how much content there is, but I can't work out how to do it

Any ideas?

This is a common question. In short, it is NOT possible with simple and moderate CSS. It is however workable (and browser compatible) with a few hacks and workarounds. The question is, can you really be arsed.

The simplest way would be to add a tiled background to the body of the page 'faking' the white container background to the bottom.

100% height and min-height of 100% will come out less that fruitful in Internet Explorer.

If it's going to be that much trouble, I'll probably just abandon it, seems to be more trouble than it's actually worth really.
