CSS - Increasing performance?

its a mental thing i find.

It will prob just come back you concentrating on someone that isn't there really.

I find keeping a backup of your cfg the best bet. I've got a 32mb memory stick with my 1.6 and CSS ones so i can easy go to other comps/lans and reformatt and not worry.

Yeah I might do that for the future.

You might be right about the mental thing. I get rusty if I dont play for a few days. But if i am playing every day I can get some good runs together.

I have never played 1.6, whats it like?

I have mine maxxed out, 6xAA, 16AF @1680, and get ~140 fps on a X1950pro..

You're struggling to get 'good speed' with an 8800?

How the hell does it run so fast on your computers :O

Ive got an E2180 @ 3Ghz, 8800gt, 2Gb Ram and i struggle to run it at 70 constant.

800x600
All maxed
16xAF
4xAA

Must be Vista :(

Hmmm bit more than mine, getting very average FPS in TF2 atm, even with multi-threading tweaks. Mine goes as much as 100fps lower in heavy firefights :(

No idea if Vista is still an issue with Source either.

Something seriously wrong there. Like someone said above this game is mostly cpu based. So if you are running at 3ghz then you should be getting way over 100 fps

Indeed, something is straining your computer and causing that. I might understand if your E2180 was running stock but it isn't.
