i'm having some real problems with a site i am developing, the two problems i am faced with right now are the following:

the menu:
• it displays perfectly in firefox, but in IE the dropdown drop behind the content so is unusable, i've been playing for hours with z-index but its not budging
• once again fine in FF, but there is a 3 px gap under each item in the list which shouldn't be there and i can find no reason for it to be so...
any help with these two major gripes of mine would be greatly appreciated
