CSS Maps - where are the classics?

Best part on oilrig was starting in that small room on T side, then jump out of window into CT spawn area. caused so much carnage doing that :D

ok I set up an UBER basic webpage that took a couple of seconds to make. http://www.oxygene13.co.uk/

Please if anyone can make it better then do so and I'll host it. I will start on the absolute basics of siege now anyhow. Just the layout really. That way people can download the basic layout and remake a small section of it to scale. Like the bridge, or the outside hut or something. Then we could re-combine it.

im excited :D will install the editor tonight!

How about vehicle maps? I remember playing on Jolt - Road Rage a lot. Destruction Derby (Yellow triangle Vs shopping trolley), Jeepathon , a map with 2 planes (1 per team), and another one with handgliders... all stupidly fun. would have thought with the source engine there would have been more of these

Who remebers the cs_backalley hostage jump bug..............Them were the days :D People had a sence of humour back then......

Not now tho

Nuts this thread takes me back.

Seige used to be an excellent map - just one massive brawl in that underground car park.
I miss Vegas as well, for elvis, and the sphinx and the vents. That map rocked big time.

For me thought he biggest things missing from CSS are the assassination maps. Not so much high rise but certainly tundra and oilrig. They really made you play as a team.

Starting to think I should reinstall HL2 and Source now!

ok well I have almost finished a basic layout of the outside area lol. Its a pain getting the scale right. The plan is with the outside sorted, someone could make the hut, someone the t spawn area, someone the underground. And they could be bolted together

What was that one on the damn? That was a cool map.

I would love to start a new server with nothing but classic map remakes on it.

[EDIT] just thought of another - the other 747 map where you were in the air and coudl open the paylod door and jump out... anyone remember that one?

I'm not too sure, but i'm positive that was CS_Thunder, but that is going back abit though. Is that the one with the massive gantry in whitch T' & CT's are opposite ends of each other. If so that map was absolutely huge.

What about in Assault where u used to be able to blow out the skylight in the office and hostage jump out ontop of the map :D

that rocked :D

please do :p atm my map attempt are just the basics still so I wont have any comparison shots. I will prolly add a forum on there some point so people can discuss an ocuk css server and remakes of maps

Blimey, this brings back utterly fantastic memories of CS. I could play for hours and hours and never get bored... Maybe I've grown up a little since then, but the whole community/scene just doesn't seem to be the same.

Joebob - A server with just the classic maps on sounds excellent. My only worry would be whether you could build and sustain it's popularity. These ideas always seem to start well, but you end up with a server that's empty most of the time. A lot of the maps mentioned are only really enjoyable when completely full in my oppinion. But if you could pull it off, I'd be a happy man! :D

Oxygene - Have you seen the cs_seige remake: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/5660? You've got all sorts of classics on there which might be worth checking out before getting too far down the line.

as_oilring: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/11636
cs_747: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/10540
cs_arabstreets: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/17593
cs_backalley: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/5033
cs_estate: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/12465
cs_thunder: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/4479

de_torn: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/12958
de_vertigo: http://www.fpsbanana.com/maps/19118

There's a few which I'm unable to find (i.e. Vegas), but that might give you a platform to work on. I've no idea of the quality of them, but from the screenshots they don't seem too bad.

Also, along with Joebob, I'm more than welcome to assist on the web side of things if any further help is required.

looks cool. I am thinking of making a few changes to the map though to map it more interesting. I have found so far that an exact remake is difficult when you are trying to make it identical to the orig
