My new subwoofer isnt working in css.It doesn't work on TF2 either.Audio settings are 5.1.

It works in COD4 and QW though.

Any ideas?

you got it set right in the control panel as well as any sound software/drivers you have?

MY old 5.1 did weird things with steam games if they had been changed in-between games ie using headphones etc.

its set to 5.1

audigy 4 console is set to 5.1 too

i did a speaker test and the sub comes out of the centre/front instead of the sub.

oh that's simple then in the drivers options there should be a button to switch sub/centre just tick/untick that :)

Get a channel inverter then, one you put on the yellow cable of tour sub/center cable and that switches the sub & centre channels.

Odd tho that you can't find an option in your sound settings, most soundcards have a switch button to switch the centre&sub.

why do i need to switch it though, because it works in COD4 and QW demo. For some reason source games arent sending the sub channel to the sub.

My creative audio console only lets me choose between 2/4/5.1/...

I have not option to turn the subwoofer off

not of but to switch the input between center and sub.

somthing like

Try searching in the sound things help file (may be simple but 90% of people never bother to look in there)

I'm not sure if steam games ever sent sound to my centre speaker so if they are switched you wouldn't get anything from the sub, yet cod4 might.

CSS etc just don't use the center channel then (probs just 5.1 discrete), as the sub in cod4 and qw probs just responds to the signal that was meant to go to the centre channel, sub still works if siwtched with center channel, but it's worse since the center channel is now getting low frequency's only and *** sub also tryes to make high frequency's while it can't.

i used to have altec lansing 5.1 plugged in and that worked through all channels

i think this is a software problem with source

well you've said this wich incdicates something is wrong:

i did a speaker test and the sub comes out of the centre/front instead of the sub.
The creative speaker test should always be perfectly fine, if it isn't then you can be sure the speakers aren't plugged in correctly or the channels are mixed up.

oh sorry, i meant the speaker test within CSS (on audio setup page)

Speaker test on amp works fine
Power dvd works
Cod4 works

so it must be something to do with source games

Ahhhhhhh, lol, okay nvm then what we said, I really don't know how to fix it then, might be the game doesn't work properly with ** card, I just duno.
