CSS players - Mouse/sense/DPI

Jesus christ

That must be about 1cm for a 360 turn?

probably not far off, will test now

*edit* turns out I haven't played CSS for a while and the max in game sensitivity is 6.0 now, I set it to that and it feels about right, around 3cm is a 360 turn

Use the console.
sensitivity 9

That's how I do my sens becuase I cbb to do my crosshairscale again after using option.

Also the max dpi + picking a sens is a total rumor/myth amongst gaming mice

Check your MM thread! :p

I want to join you all in the CSS world, but need you to sell it to me first! Lol.

Wow

To think it takes me 10x the distance to do a 360 than you is weird. :p

Common sense...and if you are lacking that, a wealth of information on the internet!

Its not quite as obvious as you might think. Basically the screen is made up of pixels, and its impossible to aim between them, so all you need is enough DPI to not skip pixels as you move the mouse over them. For that you can work out how much DPI you need:

Its (screen width resolution x 4) / (inches for 360 turn) = minimum DPI needed to not skip pixels for 90 degree FOV. Whether it really matters if you do skip pixels is worth considering too, and really I don't think its a big deal.

EG if you have 1024 res and turn 360 in 11 inches (28 cm) you need 372 DPI. Setting your DPI over that won't make any positive difference. You don't put the DPI to max because you end up with poorer response from the mouse. You can get negative acceleration, skipping, and you can't move it as fast while getting perfect response from the mouse. This is why you won't find any top level FPS players using high DPI.

Since none of us are pro's tho, in the scheme of things it doesn't really matter, but if you want to get the most from the mouse then don't just put it to its max DPI, you're just downgrading its response for no actual gain.

+1

No need for those comments such as "common sense" etc as it's clearly not the case that the mouse works best at its highest DPI.

Razor DeathAdder (left handed edition oh yeah!)
max razor sensitivity
middle sens in windows

1.0 in CSS

Can just about 180 on my mouse mat.

In Quakelive I have sensitivity a lot higher since much more need to be spinning camera about :p

I use a Sidewinder X8, DPI on 1000. On my old PC, my sensitivity was around 1.6, but when I recently installed and tried playing with that setting on this PC, it was abominably slow, I ended up having to whack the senstivity to almost 5

Razer Mamba 5800 DPI
Ingame sens 3 (TF2)

Don't understand why people want 30cm for a 360, my mousepad is only 35cm.

The ability to aim is a good thing to have in an fps. I can almost guarantee you'll have better aim if you lower your sens to 20-30cm per 360.

p.s hi. how's the jump maps going? :p

p.s hi

I can aim perfectly fine with my setup, lowering the sens just makes me slower and means that I have to fling my arm across my desk instead of just using my wrist.

I could understand a 15cm 360 maybe, but 30cm just seems unneeded.

Edit. Got bored of jump maps. Been jumping in game instead.

You should try low sense, once you do, you don't go back! I'm on about 60cm for 360 turn now. That's not even that ridiculous - know a lot of people with 70/80cm+

css sucks imo but for 1.6 I use 1-1.5 mouse sens in game . I generally don't bother playing around with driver mouse settings and I have a xai
