CSS rates?

Recently my game has being getting a bit jerky and even bots have seemed to be lagging. I think it could be to do with my rates.

I have a 512k connection so could you please give me the rates that I should use? and how to input them? (i'm presuming via console?)

If bots are lagging, and it's offline / local, then I doubt it to be your rates.

If you dont already have console:

While in game press esc to get to the menu
Click Options
Go to the Keyboard tab
Click on the button labeled Advanced
Tick the box next to "Enable Console" or whatever it is

Then press ` (Button above tab)
Type:
rate
cl_cmdrate
cl_updaterate

Post what the console says

Comp specs would help too, if bots are lagging, is your pc up to playing it?

"cl_cmdrate" = "30"
"cl_updaterate" = "20"

PC is:
AMD 3700 San deigo, 2GB Crucial ballistix, 7800 256 GTX so there shouldn't be a problem with the pc.

Those are the default rates for 56k

You want to run them around -

cl_cmdrate 80
cl_updaterate 80

and set rate to about 20000. God knows what mine are, every server i go into just changes them

Even worse when a server does, then you go play on a regular server and get slagged of to no end

oops yeah make sure you set 'rate' to 15000-20000 range ^

Just make your config file read only, then the servers can't change your rates.

For 100 tick servers I use 25000, 100, 100
