css tips

DONT go to #mixing.css its full of loosers trust me, if you want a decent mix then add some decent channels to your IRC perform. Some i use are

#zbaord
#uq.gaming
#fiveflow

I use a lot more but you will get the idea once you spend some times using these channels #5on5.css if your a mix team looking for a match. Fiveflow is a channel i regualry chat in its pretty much active all the time :). So be warned mixing vent is bad ;).

Im told rates have also something to do with smoothness or something, what is that?

It changes the rate you send packets to the server. If you've got a decent connection (As in not 56k) then use these rates. Type this into the console.

cl_updaterate 101
cl_cmdrate 101
rate 25000

If you have bad rates (either stupidly low or high) then your bullets won't register in the right places and neither will enemies on you. It can get VERY annoying when people don't use the right rates as it just makes it one big game of chance.

Also interp is a bit of a problem, where the server interprets where your bullet should be going according the information it receives from you. When this goes wrong you experience weird stuff like people headshotting you when you've just gone round a corner (From where you were about 0.1 second before) and can get pretty irritating. You can make this most accurate if you type

ex_interp 0

that might make the game feel a little more jerky, but at least you'll know that you're hitting exactly where your crosshair is :)

Feel free to correct me anyone as I just did that off the top of me head and haven't played in a while :p

Config is probably best, I haven't with the interp one and usually remember half way through a session and hurriedly set it :p

If you want to play on a server that's a little bit laggy try setting rate to 18000 or cl_updaterate to 80, it might help.

come play on my server (sig) :D

Play with better people, eventually youll get better. then play with higher skilled people. Become more better.

get a server and be a regular on there, people will start to notice you, give you tips, help you out, cover you more, and generally "welcome" you into a teamplay situation instead of pubbing it, and being a lone ranger.

Teamplay, communcation and experience is key.

when i first started playing several years ago, i was told by a natural pro that i should load up my own servers with 5 bots on the hardest setting and all of them on the opposite team... when they are on the hardest setting, they step 2cm out of cover, see you half way accross the map and shoot. This will teach you how to use the enviroment and stay out of hot zones.

as for the HEC (hand eye coord) evenetually u will get amazingly good skills with hec using the bots. cos they will pop out with such little visual on your behalf and you will adapt to this and manage to naturaly spot one from a mile away when they peak out a corner and your aim should improve to you swinging your arm around and getting your wrist to adjust the aim at the same time, then crouching, bang bang, head shot...

when you win your first round against the 5, u will feel brilliant, do a few more, and after you get 3 wins in a row, go to a online server, play for a while, then back to your own server and bump it up to 7/8 bots... see where im going with this? eventually after a week or 2 repeating this, u will have amazing HEC with your mouse and a brilliant technique when being fired at, you will no longer be killed 10 seconds into rounds. and as for your aim, like i said, hardest setting bots are tricky to get a decent shot off at. so no worries, ** aim will improve a lot to.

Bots are good for aim yes but the reg on your bullets will be FAR better than in a server hosted game. Try to mix it up so you don't get used to ridiculous amounts of headshots flying all over the place like LAN.
