Hi all,
A friend of mine has been suffering from debilitating headaches for a while which is also causing him issues with sleeping and working. One extreme was over the weekend he couldn't do anything other than lay on his bed and scream into his pillow until the pain killers would kick in and then he could fall asleep.
What's surprised me the most is that his doctor has not issued any scans. The reasoning is "He's too young (27) and may have future complications".
He's on medication and pain killers which are having varying levels of success, more recently their effectiveness appears to be wearing off.
Does that sound like a legitimate excuse for not having a CT scan? I'm aware there are certain risks of having any sort of x-ray/scan, but given the symptoms it seems somewhat unusual to refuse one based solely on age.
I'm trying to get him to get a second opinion from another doctor.
