Without have a potential car to purchase seems a bit daft. Interest rates may drop again this month again lowering the rate you have received :)

car will have to be purchased this month as the audi is sold and away next week.

nothing to do with me anyway its going to be the wifes car mainly with me occasionally getting to drive it(no doubt when the fuel guage reads empty or theres funny noises coming from it :)

she's easily please it looks pretty therefor it does not matter what it drives like.

If she's easily pleased why spend £10k of someone elses money

its not someone elses money its her money (read mine and hers)

its either a ctr or she gets an octavia :)

i tried to be a bit alpha about it and beat my chest and laid the law down but she kicked me in the nuts and told me no nookie for the rest of the year or a CTR on the drive my choice :)

I've never understood this, I don't think ill ever have someone else control my finances or dictate to me, let alone a woman.

When you're in a relationship (a serious one), people tend to SHARE finances, as in joint mortgage, joint bills, joint bank account etc. With your attitude, you may well struggle to even get to the relationship part, given your obvious disdain for the fairer sex!

I'm a CTR owner, and have to say that if I was given £10K to blow on whatever I wanted, I wouldn't be blowing it on a CTR.

I'd be looking at ST220's, really nice LCR's, on maybe even early Integra DC5's as per the blue one pictured earlier.

Not a CTR at £10K. No way. You could buy a really nice '02-'03 plate pre-facelift CTR for less than 8K (probably nearer £7K) with under 50K on the clock, with aircon which is an optional extra, so not all have it.

Try some other cars. If she's used to decent build quality in the cabin, she won't find it in a CTR. Mine has all kinds of different rattles and buzzes that materialise depending temperature/revs. The suspension is really firm to the point of annoyance on long journeys, and as people say, the UK CTR's biggest downfall is the electric power steering, which does definitely deaden steering feel.

That said, I love mine for the most part, and it's a hoot to drive ;)
Just wouldn't drop £10K on one, that's all.

suggests a LCR but she doenst like the shape.

:(

I have to agree with Fox et al, you've taken out a 10k loan to buy a car you know nothing about and haven't even taken out for a test drive... that's a bit dim to be honest!

imo if she had any sense and you weren't such a walkover you would be spending more sensibly and wouldn't be blowing 10k (or should I say 10600) on a complete whim. If I ever get to that stage in relationsip, shoot me.:D

good choice for that money although Id go for the pre-face lift EP3 as it looks less chavvy,

most charismatic car amoungst the alternatives metioned, and yes I have driven them all.

rs focus, megane sport, clio 197,focus st, LCR, Older S3?

St for 10k? where from? I'll have two:p

Tbh for a Bird the CTR is the wrong sort of car, she will be whining about the harsh ride etc within 3 months, same for the Focus RS, harsh cars in reality for day to day driving, LCR or S3 would be the best bet.

This thread explains why the country is several trillion in debt.

And I dont get the please the girlfriend thing either or the sniping that occurs when someone dares to suggest its silly. Relationships are about give and take, not the girl stamping her feet until the guy simply does what she wants.

Ok, I dont live with or share finances with my girlfriend but I've never seen my parents act like that either.

My 'bird' loves my CTR.....i've had turbo cars in the past but she likes this one more.

Why mock the guy for getting funds ready to buy a car? How many of you go to look at cars without having the funds ready?

He knows what his budget is and has sorted a loan ready....exactly what i did with mine.

I don't see the big fuss to be honest apart from the fact that the majority on here hate the CTR.

Because your Dad knows his place :p. is that your Mum's fingers I hear clicking?

i very well not might spend `10k on a ctr

looked at 2 today one at 7500 and one at 8200 both nice but going to look at another few tommorow ranging from 6-9k

anything left over should ideally be funneled into the new kitchen (see my soon to be posted how not to diy a kitchen install thread) or a nice CAI stainless exhaust and a set of teins
