Hi

hope that someone can help me with this annoying problem; built new system yesterday (rig in sig) and have had BSOD CTSFM2K.SYS with 'Machine Check Exception' labelled above it.

This was occurring almost every 10 minutes. After uninstalling different drivers and googling it looks like the cause is my Audigy 2 which I have uninstalled and am now using on-board sound. I know the Audigy is fine becouse it was formerly in my old system and worked flawlessly.

If anyone else has had the same experience or knows a cure i'd really appreciate some help as would prefer to go back to my Audigy 2.

Many thanks.

Did some googling and seems a few people have had same problem. All seem to point to the fact that it is a sound font file which conflicts with Windows own.

Tried installing without sound fonts but same BSOD after a little while.

Don't know if related but I later found after a virus scan 3 Trojans - 2 I have managed to delete; may want to check.

It was completely random; longest time I had without a BSOD was just under an hour. Have removed Audigy2 and things are now fine. I have posted my soundcard to a friend who is gonna test it in his system. I don't believe the card is borked but more like the drivers are naff although I have run the card in a P4 system until built this system for almost a year without any problems.

I believe its a conflict between a sound font file in XP and a file in the drivers.

If anyone has any experiece please reply - I myself will keep posted on any progress I may have.
