I can't find one in the supermarkets. I want a good Cumberland ring for my bbq.

Anyone found a good one anywhere? shop or online?

My butcher will make them upon request but I don't know anywhere which sells them, morrisons used to do them but last time I went in there for meat was about 7 years ago so who knows.

Find a South African shop and ask for something called Boerewors (BOO-ra-vorss).
You'll never go back to Cumberland saussies again, especially on a barbecue!!

Nope!

Had em, thought they were disgusting. Along with that biltong crap. Biggest waste of a fiver ever.

A Fiver? On biltong??!!
That's like saying the 30p Tesco Value sausages weren't everything you hoped for!!

I think I see the problem... I'm guessing you bought a packet of the Coan brand from a petrol station or something?
Get either the good brands, or make it at home yourself.

Decent boerewors is VERY good. Crap stuff is VERY crap. It's basically beef sausage, nothing more. Same for biltong and droewors, really. In fact, every kind of meat.

Beef sausage sucks. Pork is meant for sausages.

Biltong is ok, but not the rock hard stuff. I prefer jerkey, to "proper" SA Biltong.

Just buy it wet.
The older drier stuff is great for dogs, especially if you get a good stick of it. But for humans, be it sticks or sliced, it really should feel pretty squishy. You can then leave it for a couple of days or so until it's precisely to your liking.

I used to like jerky, until discovered biltong and now the former always just tastes like over-processed junk.
