Hi chaps, I'm looking very closely at upgrading to a Cupra R and a nearby example I have seen has 210 bhp, not 225 - which I suspect is an earlier model ? Just wondering if I plump for a 210 bhp version is it at all noticeably slower than a 225 ?

cheers

The 210 was only available from 2002-2003 (pre 53 plate). They are not noticably different in power delivery or indeed in speed. It is also worth noting that the 210 is 210BHP, and the 225 is 225PS (which equates to around 218BHP), meaning there is even less in it than you think.

The only other difference will be pre-facelift mirrors (Golf MK4 shape rather than teardrops), and the steering wheel is of a different finish.

I currently own an 04 Platinum Grey Cupra R. Love it!

The older ones look more or less the same, so whichever you go for you will love it.

:D

approx 6k budget - maybe a bit more if it comes down to it.. not keen on yellow though :o

You don't see many silver ones about. Or rather, I don't, I don't know if you do! I quite like the silver, my friend has a grey cupra diesel which looks alright. Red is nice in that car I reckon.

EDIT: Oh, did the 225 have different body kit before the revision? The 180 with those multispokes looked awfully... something before they facelifted/changed/did something.

No.

The 210/225 have the same bodystyling, always have had.

You are comparing a Cupra with a Cupra R. The Cupra had a facelifted bodykit after 2004 IIRC.

I believe the Cupra's had a facelift but not the R's.

Think the R's had a few changes but nothing major.

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=115851 <-- That should tell you any differences you wish to know (apologies if you've already read it and I'm stating the obvious though :p)

Make sure you get it in Grey, as everyone knows that's the only colour to have ;)

Yellow is second best though, but as you've ruled it out there's only grey tbh

I sometimes wish I'd got an LCR, but then remember I'm having just as much fun keeping up with the majority of cars and returning ~40mpg when I push it and >50 when I don't :D

I have one of the last 210's (registered Nov '03) which has the newer teardrop mirrors. Unlike the 225's the 210's also has rear recaro seats if you're lucky enough to find one with that option. Both remap to about the same as the engines are near identical and share the same turbo. On mine the only visual difference between that and a 225 is different colour rear badge, different steering wheel and rear seats.

Or r sorry I knew 180 = Cupra and not Cupra R, just wondered if they'd both changed.

Oh Silent Bob, I bet your car looks awful with those rear seats! :p
