Curious problem...

For some reason my internet connection will just drop. Programs like MSN and Vent will just disconnect but i can connect back to them straight away. Ive done a full system scan using Avira saying nothing is found and also Spybot found nothing. Restarted comp, restarted router, recycled the power on router and reset the router. Any thoughts?? Thanks
 
Could probably do with a bit more info, OS, antivirus app, firewall, is it dropping connection at router or at pc, how often etc...
 
sorry. using Vista 32bit. using avira with standard windows firewall. not dropping @ router because my girlfriends pc doesnt drop. its not even a proper "drop". more a minor dip in connectivity. its also wired but i cant put my finger on it =<
 
Seems unusual for wired 'dropouts' other than drivers or cable issues.
Have you tried swapping your network cable with your gf and see how it goes - maybe change router ports after that.
If something is related to the other pc, start a continuous ping from yours to an internet site while your gf pc is on and in use and get an idea of what is going on.
At least I'd like to rule as much out as I can and narrow things down - even something as simple as dhcp ip lease expiry on routers if your router has all that.
