Curious... Qualifications or Experience?

Travel the world, gain qualifications for free whilst gaining experience, have stories to tell your children, help getting on the property ladder, basically the best pension you can find? If you're still not interested then alrighty :p

The realities are often poor pay, sub standard accommodation in some locations, lack of equipment and resources, undermanning etc.... (probably more applicable to the army than RAF though)

Then again it isn't something you really join for the money & you'll share experiences on operational tours that civvies will never come close to experiencing.

Good luck with the career - hopefully you'll be directing air traffic in some remote sandy place in the near future ;)

Indeed, hence I didn't mention any of them in my list of benefits :D

The pay is actually much better than it seems, it's not as simple as just looking at the salary like it is for civvy jobs. Subsidised accommodation and food, extra overseas pay and free clubs to name a few.

I've had a few jobs in my short career..

My first job I did nearlly 2 years at college for as a nursery nurse (Level 3 NVQ in Childcare)

From there I went onto my last job in a vehicle removal company that contracted the police who rang us to get cars shifted..

I think both really have got me into my most exciting career that I have atm in the Ambulance Service as an Emergency Call taker (soon to be going over to dispatch/radio) so no is really the answer to studying at least for me, but I feel the experience I gained got me into this job... I really do feel like i've landed on my feet at times.. and at the same time I feel for my sister who has very little in the way of either and struggling to get a job herself...

I got a job in I.T after spending fartoo many years at College & Uni getting a HND + Degree, paid off though!
