I appreciate the fact that you included all six possible permutations of three distinct letters. Bravo.PinkPig said:It's the, ***, het, hte, eht, eth only way to spell it.
Rebelius said:i love how they've bothered to put filters for annoying things like t.e.h and u.r etc. but not swear words.

But... but... they wouldn't be able to hand out so many suspensions if they did anything as sensible as that!Eriedor said:Always wondered that. You get absolutely jumped on by mods if you swear yet why aren't swearies in the swear filter?

The most annoying thing is when I attempt to abbreviate New Old Stock, a class of vintage auto parts, on the motors forum. I always forget that NOS is a sweary.Amleto said:n.os does too. ***. dont know why that is, but noes is fine.![]()

You could easily add filters for the more common swear words (the ones that rhyme with hit, muck, click and hunt, for example) which would solve the problem of people accidentally copy-pasting them in when they quote extensively from another source. That way you could still hand out suspensions for people who deliberately bypass the filters, but you'd let off the people who've made a genuine mistake. And it would save you all time having to put No swearing messages at the bottom of all the posts that contain swearing, too.Werewolf said:We have some level of hope that people can get by without swearing, and are also very aware of how easy it is to bypass swear filters, so unless we want to try and get every possible combination of swear word we rely on people using common sense and some discretion.
The most prolific sin is 'loose' and 'lose'. Sadly, it really winds me up too. Why don't people get it?ScarySquirrel said:Is there anyway of instantly banning people who misuse "your" and "you're"?
Would also be welcomed when people do not understand the difference between to and too. There and their. Where and were etc.
A good point - I hadn't thought of that.dirtydog said:I think it's because they want to be able to swear in their private sub forums (which is fair enough) and presumably the filter would apply globally across the entire forum.
There's lots of people about who just aren't very bright.spinneR~uk said:The most prolific sin is 'loose' and 'lose'. Sadly, it really winds me up too. Why don't people get it?
