Evenin all, here's a curous little problem i cant get my head round.

My unlce has just done a fresh install of Windows XP having had ME installed for aages. Everything is working fine except it takes aaages to load some pages on the internet. Google works fine and at the normal (fast) speed, but pages like wired.com and wikipedia takes far too long, these pages are just a little that bit bigger. However when he downloads things they are fine, he just downloaded the 6.5mb firefox install in no time.
The problem is the same on firefow and IE.
His internet come via an ethernet card and a router, the laptop on a wireless card has flawness internet and it all worked fine before the upgrade.

Any ideas as to what the problem may be?

Thanks,

I would say it is 90% gonna be a DNS issue.

If he is using DHCP from his router for his IP and DNS addresses, try putting in just the DNS addresses as static.

Ok thanks, i'll try that on Saturday when he brings his computer round. IF anyone has any other ideas i'll try those out as well.

If he brings his PC to you, try it on your connection before changing anything. Try to rule out any problems on his connection.

Yeah i was going to do that, try and find out exactly where the problem lies. If the problem persists on my connection could it be something like the ethernet card not being set up properly?
