Hey all,

A topic pinned to another topic I noticed on the forums about Current Accounts...

I am recently looking to move my current account and ISA to another provider. I am currently with Santander but they do not have fast bank transfer facilities and I am not too impressed with thier online banking which is pretty important to me...

Any suggestions? I have been thinking about maybe Barclays or Natwest?

Barclays here for Current and savings. Also have a TSB current account. No complaints and both have great online banking.

i love natwest's online banking its great and so is the iphone app, as you can tx from accounts using it

I also bank with Co-op as they have an ethical policy, I wouldnt bank with barclays because of their involvement in conflict diamonds and south africa etc. years ago, plus the barclay brothers are a bunch of tax dodging ****s

If I could be bothered I'd ditch Santander on the grounds they are one of the most inept companys I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. My wife finally got fed up with them, closed her account, recieved a letter saying she'd closed the account... fast forward 5 months and she gets a demand from Santander for £375. The first month after the account was closed they applied an under-funding fee of £5, this put her into overdraft and cost her an extra £50 for a months overdraft. Next month same, again... for 5 months.

Upon contacting them they denied that the account has been closed, but as a 'good will gesture' they were willing to waive half the fees. Oh I see, we'll just pay you £185 for you not being able to do your jobs properly then? No.

Avoid.

Santander to have fast transfer, I transfer money between accounts instantly all the time.

Doesn't stop them from being a rubbish bank though! I am now with First Direct.

Only up to £300. I transferred a few £k last month and took a few days to hit the other account.

The limits on Santander's fast transfer is very low comparatively.

Closing my current accounts shortly and sticking with a coop basic account so I cant get into any more trouble :D

I bank with LTSB and cannot complain abou anything to do with their online system.

Keep an eye out next year for the ING Direct current account. Going to be a very good online provider I hear.
